  • Hey jdecourcy7029! I’m 55 and still quite the newbie. Also 40lbs overweight. I started the SV lessons and am on day 3. Sounds like my pole hold is as good as yours! I did learn while at a studio last year to climb, Buddha sit, and other sits. So, I know we will both get there! I thought I was doing a pole OK until I started SV lessons. Now I’m learning the right way! They are great! *Veena, thanks for posting the other pole hold video here. Nice to see I was on the right track one leg at a time. Very helpful.

OMG hey there annlambertvannoy4449 I just saw your post! Would you believe it if I told you that was my very first injury? Exactly the same! Ouch! Left breast pec muscle. PLEASE REST FOR TWO WEEKS! Even if you are feeling better. It was very painful for me and happened last spring. I’m fine now and you will be too if you rest.

Oops. Also the mirrors were about $59 each.

I purchased two 30″ x 60″ un-beveled mirrors from Home Depot and mounted them horizontally to make one “big” mirror. Worked out great! There are pics on my page.

Add me to the list of “30 Day” Pole Hold Awkwardness. I can climb the pole, I can pole sit. (Nope, not jumping ahead (-; These skills are from when I went to a studio.) BUT…having said that, I “sucked” at doing the Day 3 Pole Hold Strength exercise. I love the exercises. Today was day 7. But alas, now I have to go on travel for 5 days. Might as well start over the “30 Day” and see if I am better at “Day 3” this time.

I put on about 40 lbs in a short time “thanks” (no thanks) to medicine. Ugh. I am since off the medication (Yea!) and the weight is slowly coming off. Too slow. Frustrating because I had kept my weight down over the last 15 years. I had exercised like a maniac for a year with very little weight loss. Then, I went to visit my doctor who just happened to lose 55 lbs! I asked her, “what did you do?” She said, “move more, eat less.” Then I spoke with the nurse complaining to her that I exercised every day, worked out at the club, walked, etc. etc. and she said, “it really is more about the calories you take in.” Well, that wasn’t what I wanted to hear, but she was right. I hate counting calories, so I am trying to work on good portion control. I’ve lost 10 lbs. so far. Sugar is my worst enemy. Really packs the pounds on and so does alcohol. I also discovered that when I had a drink, my appetite dramatically increased! Good news! I have recently noticed that the protein shakes I drink after a pole lesson is really curbing my sugar craving.

Wow! What wonderful comments! Another reason for SV Lessons? I am not alone in my endeavors. After these comments…I don’t feel like I am the only one who has had this experience. I am not alone. What a wonderful, supportive community! Today was “Day 3” of the SV Challenge. Now…I thought previously that I had a pretty decent “Pole Hold” happening. I was wrong! Does a one-half of a second pole hold count?! Yes! It has to start somewhere! I do believe that if I continue the lessons with a strong commitment, the rest will just take care of itself over time. Meaning…good pole holds are in my future with continued training. And…the scapula exercises are excellent. I did find that if I close my eyes I can focus on the scapula much better. What’s tomorrow? Rejuvenation day! Hurray! Because, my muscles are a little sore now from “home training.” It’s like the real thing! Who knew?!

I have 9 foot ceilings with a 9-10 SV pole. Very happy with the results. I have pictures of the install on my page.

Yea GoPro! I got a GoPro in November. I use it while boating, snorkeling, diving. It’s great! For Christmas, I got the doggies harnesses so I plan to put it on the dogs to see life from their perspective. Most of my filming seems to be of the dogs on the beach. I do have plans to use it for pole, but that will be a while because I am shy. (-; I do recommend the jaws clamp mount. At first I thought I wouldn’t want the suction cup mount, but have since changed my mind and just purchased it. I am learning a lot about camera settings and battery life. I have experience in video editing and creating videos in general but I am new to the camera. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube. It is awesome!

OK me again. I just did a spin (sorry forgot what it’s called) with one leg hooked around the pole and one leg straight out. Things are starting to come back to me slowly. Great clearance on the spin. Hubby said I’m not coming close to anything. It is kind of a small space (less than 4 ft one side, a 4′ 3″ on the other and maybe 6′ other two sides. It is working out great! Can you tell I am excited!! POLE HAPPY!! THANK YOU STUDIO VEENA!!!

My SV pole is now installed! Yippee! It too makes a similar noise. I tried some liquid graphic around the moving parts but still makes the noise. Perhaps I’ll just turn the music up?!? *LOL* It is a 9-10 foot pole and the height is 9’2″. And yep…I climbed it and touched the ceiling! Happy…happy…happy. I haven’t been to a studio in about 4 months. I’ll post pictures of my install. Ready for the Challenge(s)!

I am a big fan of “3M adhesive remover” (white can red label). Also WD40 works too!

Yippee!!!! I’ve ordered the SV pole! I’m not quite ready for it because I still have to finish the wood mount to the ceiling, but I am so happy just knowing it is on the way!

Thanks chemgoddess1 – that helps a lot. I am also installing a TRX xmount next to the pole mount. I cannot wait until it’s ready!

Thanks for answering me so quickly! It would make sense that the videos are watched in real time (duh). It is taking me longer to get the room ready for the SV pole, but I'm getting there. I have to make a wood piece to mount to the ceiling (for the pole) because my ceiling is a cement slab. But, little by little I am getting there. The mirrors are up, the music is ready and now I can stretch and hula-hoop! Thank you!
