I still have my enthusiasm for pole, but unfortunately I have lost my enthusiasm for the studio. While I was traveling, I recently visited a different studio and attended their classes. I was very impressed with the owner's professionalism and business demeanor. She had a plan for the class and her students. In fact, I could tell she has a plan for her business to go places and I believe she will. I don't invert yet and she was adamant about going through a process of steps in order to prevent injury. For example, not kicking into an invert. Additionally, because of her process, planned steps, and teaching methods, I can now comfortably do a headstand.

This all got me thinking because I had a pretty bad injury in the beginning and I was too dumb to realize what was happening until I started watching the videos on this website.

Sigh…I no longer want to attend studio classes watching an instructor figure out what she wants to do the next 45 minutes. This makes me sad because I really loved it there. All I want is education and a plan to progress. I am serious about pole even though I don't plan on competing. It is, however, more than just "play" for me.

The only options for pole where I live are either the studio I was attending or another studio that only has "open pole" two days a week.

I just told my husband last night that I was getting a pole. He doesn't think I have room. It will be tight, but I need lessons with a plan. I will be buying a StudioVeena pole.

So my 2 cents worth "what are studio owners doing wrong?" They don't have a plan.

Thank you Studio Veena for having a plan.

I am a newbie still and have been going to pole studios. I can see now why a pole at home is important. I really want to take the time on my own to practice and think about what I'm doing. I've decided to get the SV pole. I am counting the days until I can order an SV pole. I'm traveling this month. As soon as I get home I will order the pole! Meanwhile, I will have to SV pole vicariously through this site. That, and I can start "studying" the 30 day challenge. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m a pole newbie and this will be my first time attending an expo. Hubby has bought the tickets and the only caveat is that we are staying with his parents! LOL! We know Vegas well. It’s all good.

What Pole Dancing means to me? Pole has been the catalyst for personal change (a different story for a different time https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif). Below is a copy of a letter I wrote to the owner of my local pole Studio.

    Dear Amber,

I just arrived home after three classes tonight, the last one with you as the teacher. I am tired, sore, bruised, achy, but most importantly, happy. I am writing you this letter to let you know how impressed I am with you and your studio. After three weeks, I want you to know that I noticed from day one that the atmosphere you project is one that is warm and welcoming. Impressed because each person that walks through your door is treated the same — age, size, background, profession, it just does not matter. As a “50-something” woman, I feel at home in your studio and I cannot thank you enough for your genuine hospitality. Your enthusiasm is infectious and it reflects in your instructors as well.

I get a predictable reaction when I tell people that I am taking pole class. They say, “Oh, a strip class!” It’s interesting to note in that although your students are treated equally when they walk through the door, the differences in their personal dance styles are encouraged by your instructors as dancing is different for each person. My classes are not about stripping, sex, empowerment, or pleasing my man. When I’m at your studio, it is about getting back to the heart of me, for me.

I had an interesting experience after my first class. I left your studio with “happiness.” There are different kinds of happiness. However, this was the kind of “happy” that I do not think I have experienced in probably 40 years. The experience took me back to a place where pure happiness used to live, where there were no cares in the world, no responsibilities. A feeling long forgotten now returned. The pure happiness of a 5th grader hanging upside down on the monkey bars. It was wonderful. It is wonderful.

Amber, I want you to know that you have made a difference. Thank you for creating an environment that is safe and non-judgmental. Where, after all the years that go too fast, I can remember what it is like to feel like me for me.

SV: Your website has also made a difference in my poling. It is like the icing on the cake! You can count on me to be a loyal recurring member. There is so much helpful information here — your virtual lessons and community partner really well for those that pole at their local studio. I benefit from both!

I have a background in publishing and web development. I can see the passion that you obviously have for your work as it shines through on your website, your videos, and newsletters.  I'm glad I found you!

This evening's pole class was "tricks foundation 2." I had been out of town the last week, wasn't feeling great today (whaaa whaaa). Got very close to not going. But..I drug myself to class and…OMG….once I started climbing I began to feel good and better than I'd felt all day.  I felt so good I surprised even me. I must have climbed up and down 20 times (yep..thigh burn too!). I would have never thought I'd be able to climb a pole and certainly not at this age!

This feedback is awesome. Glad to know I'm not the only one with joint pain and as I call it…"mental-pause!" 😄

I used to think my nieces and nephews would someday have an intervention to get me from riding a motorcycle when I got too old. Now I think they will have to talk me down from the pole!!

Thank you all soooo much for the welcoming! Pole is not just a new obsession or midlife crises for me (learned to ride a motorcycle at 45…different story https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif).

My frst pole class took me to a place of pure happiness. A happy time long forgotten. A genuine happy that I remembered as a fifth grader, hanging upside down on the monkey bars feeling free to be me! (I would wear shorts under my dress because at the time we had to wear dresses to school!). Pole has been the catalyst to regain control of my health and me. It feels good.

Note to Veena and Webmaster. A special thank you and appreciation for the work you put into your site. Especially your balanced presentation between fitness and sensuality. I fear pole may go to extreme on only fitness. But then that sounds like a new threa!. Thank you again.

Hi all, I am new to poling. Just started January this year. Thought up until now I'd be buying an xpole. However, I've been so impressed with this site that I'm now leaning towards the studio veena pole. My concern is my ceiling. I live in a high rise condo in Florida. The ceiling is an 8" cement slab that separates the floors. There is a ceiling fan in the room but I don't know what is behind it (studs, conduit, etc). Anybody have experience with this? Thanks in advance. Claudia
