    Hi Everyone- I work at a travel agency in NYC so I know a lot of hotels in the city https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif.

    You may want to try this one: http://www.hotel99.com/index.aspx

    It's 5 blocks from Symphony Space. It is a budget hotel- kind of hostel style- but it is new. Some rooms have private baths and some have a shared bathroom. The rates seem to be in the mid-$100 range but they are very good for this time of year in the city.

    I am still just a beginner at regular stretching but I am finding that the more I do it, the more I am starting to enjoy it. For one- I can see improvement which is super motivating. Also, I think our bodies get used to stretching and even though you still stretch to the point of discomfort, your body is used to it and it is not as uncomfortable as when you first start stretching. It’s like pole sitting or other things that are uncomfortable at first and then you get used to it. For me it has started to feel good. And your body feels good after you stretch. Also there are different ways to stretch the same muscles. Experiment and find ones that you like. Maybe start off a little slower and don’t stretch for quite as long. Ease into it a bit. If you are doing it every day or a few days a week- you will definitely see improvement even if you are not holding the stretches for a looong time. So- I guess my advice is to hang in there and experiment with different stretches and how long you hold the stretch to see what feels good to you. Does anyone else find the discomfort gets better as you stretch regularly and it starts to feel good?

    Hey! When I first started learning pole, we learned a routine that included floor work. We practiced the routine and kept adding spins and floorwork. Practicing the routine helped me to get comfortable linking spins and tricks and floorwork and getting them to flow together. Eventually, we felt comfortable enough to freedance without the routine. Why don’t you think of some floorwork moves you want to work on and come up with a little routine you can do just to get the feel of everything flowing together? It’s hard to just jump in and know what to do next until your body is really familiar with those moves.

    Ok- you guys have totally inspired me. I’ve really never done cardio training but now I realize this will really help with my stamina for poling. I have to get my heart in shape!! Just finished day 2 of the couch to 5k program and I am feeling pretty good.

    I got folliculitis once from shaving. It’s when a little bacteria irritates the hair follicles and then it quickly spread to all the other follicles from shaving. It’s terrible and it takes awhile to clear up. A friend of mine who is a nurse prescribed a cream for me called Mupirocin which maybe helped a bit but it still takes time to clear up. Do an internet search for follicullitis and you will find tips to help it heal faster (hot compresses, soaking, etc). Just be really careful with shaving. Try not to shave for a couple of weeks until it is gone or if you must shave it use a new razor everytime. It will go away- I promise!!!

    I’ve been working on this move for a couple of weeks now. At first I thought I was just not strong enough and then I was working on Veena’s lesson for the tuck invert and realize I have the strength but I just wasn’t tipping back at the top of the tuck. As soon as i tilted my head back my body inverted into position. Now I am just working on holding it with my legs extended. I still have a ways to go to make it look smooth.

    I have been practicing handstands against a wall to get used to the feeling and balance. I found this website that was helpful to get started. http://www.beastskills.com/Handstand.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Thanks you guys! I go to S Factor but I have also taken classes at NYPD and a workshop at Body & Pole. I’ve been meaning to check out Shockra- I’ve heard such great things about it.
    We are soooo lucky to have so many great studios here! I want to go to them all https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
