Chem is right, heels on a crash mat are a recipe for disaster. If you don't kill yourself trying to attempt this, then you're going to ruin your crash mat by ripping holes in the liner with your heels. With as expensive as mats are- it would be a complete waste of your money to use heels on them. I have used two different types of crash mats. I have a Lil' Mynx crash mat and find it to be very durable and the thickness was more than what I'd thought it was going to be. My Lil' Mynx mat does justice and works perfect. The other mat I've used is quite popular online and can be found on amazon.com. It's a round pink pole mat. The quality doesn't appear to be there as this mat is gently used but has already shown signs of wear. I am uncertain of the manufacturer of this mat but I don't recommend it as it appears to be poorly constructed.

There are SO many pole certifications out there…it would be nice if there was one place to go to find them that has them all listed, who they are all sanctioned by, cost, & brief summary of curriculum..or maybe just a link to redirect you to more information….

Thanks everyone for the wonderful feedback! It is interesting how different people are within the pole community. I am all for supporting each other. It's a shame that some people have participated in cattiness. I think with the growing trend of pole fitness/pole dancing that there will be more studios within closer distances and those that choose to be spiteful will see the repercussions of their actions in the end. Kudos to all the studios supporting each other! We definitely need to continue that and push for more of that positivity within the community. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Here is a great article titles "9 Things Successful People Do Differently."

I think there is some great advice in here that can be applied to putting together your pole workout in order to stay motivated to keep working out. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Also I think if you have the ability to take lessons locally like someone else said, that having that exposure and structure a studio offers can keep you working towards goals. It also helps having someone there to guide you and give you the positive reinforcement you need to continue to push yourself. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

….my moves later helps get me motivated as well. I can stay on top of what needs to be worked on and what looks good enough for me to keep doing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I usually get motivated by watching other videos & turning on my pole playlist to get some good music going. I also go into a practice with a goal in mind, like you said you want to perfect your spins…make yourself a list of spins from watching videos or from Veena’s lessons and stick to your list. Usually when I have things written out I am more likely to stick to that list. I also find recording myself to critique

That is a variation of oversplits. Try searching oversplits as there should be a lot of information out there regarding how to stretch for these. I use a foam roller for mine.

You could get the cheap door mirrors from walmart for about $5 and tear off the frames then use double sided tape to adhere them to plywood. If you use multiple mirrors you can create a larger mirror. I had to go this route to fill the space between my large mirror and floor because the outlet prevented me from hanging my mirror too low to the ground.
