Lil' Mynx are good poles to go with…the tallest poles of theirs I've worked on were 15 feet.

I've structured my signature class that I teach at the studio using some of the research I gathered and this DVD was one of the programs amongst my research. Like I said, it is a good beginning program to introduce the concept, but there are far more deeper stretches out there that they could have incorporated. They also teach a certification course and upon completion one can use their trademark class name once certified and therefore teach Polga at your own studio.

I have this DVD and I found it to be interesting but they don't incorporate a lot of good flexibility stretches. It's a great program concept for beginning but I think there is a lot of room for improvement- as I'm sure when this DVD was made, the program itself was in it's early infantile stages.
Polga is a program designed by a Yoga instructor in Kansas that also decided to incorporate poles into her Yoga studio. By doing this, she decided to implement stretches using the poles and coined the term: Polga (Pole Yoga). It's trademarked and essentially she owns rights to using the name and has created a program through her studio. I think it's a great concept and a lot of other programs have come along with their own names- such as Poleates, Pole Yoga, etc. Basically using the pole for other exercises or classes other than "pole dancing."

Wasn't impressed either by her pole skills but it is just a fun video with a pole. Kind of reminded me of watching a girl at a bar who has no clue what she's doing on a pole but just having fun anyway.

My top 3 DVD recommendations https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
1. I REALLY like the Art of Pole Series DVDs 1-5, the moves are explained well. Jamilla even has whole DVDs following this series called Routines 1 & Routines 2. Routines 1 is a DVD with beginner, intermediate, and advanced routines with all the moves from her Art of Pole Series. She also has a DVD with some more dance technique/chair dance called Tease. This DVD is more chair/lap dance oriented but it is a good supplement for dance movement & learning additional techniques/body isolations.
2. I also like LiveOnce DVDs. The beginner DVD is great as it has a lengthy routine on it from all the moves in the DVD. This DVD also has the routine printed out in the DVD insert- which can be really helpful for beginners as it focuses on all areas of learning: visually & auditory.
3. BeSpun DVDs Series Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced: I really like these DVDs as they are basically teaching routines. The entire DVD is a routine broken down into 5 sections/combos. You can put the 5 sections in any order to create multiple routines. It also allows you to get comfortable with the moves in the combos/sequences by breaking them down into small portions for learning. These DVDs are great for the intermediate to advanced level poler wanting to change their focus from learning moves to putting them all together and forming a routine with fluidity and flow.
These are my personal preferences as I tend to stay away from styles that are masculine and jerky in their movements. I like feminine dance styles that flow, even though the Art of Pole is borderline masculine/jerky- I still find the explanations and execution of teaching the moves to be the best out there which is why it's really good for beginners.

Unfortunately once its scratched, its scratched. If it was a stainless steel you could sand it down but with powder coated, the powder coating is like a paint coating.
-
Do you have a video of yourself you could post? That would be really helpful so we could see what you're doing wrong.
-
Our studio has hardwood floors and we don't have a problem at all.
-
I recommend you get the powder coated rotator…
1. You already have a SS- which is great for dance, transitions, & spins
2. Powder Coated are sticky, hence excellent for newbs learning tricks- which is why you want it to rotate- to do some really cool spinning tricks, again you will need the extra stick.
My first pole was a Lil' Mynx rotator and it helped me advance and build necessary strength bc of the increased grip.
With that said, be conscientious of that extra stick and the effects it will have on your skin, as chem said it could tear areas when the climate factors weigh in.

Can you build your own hardwood floor to place under your pole- like a removable dance floor?

🙁 I won’t be able to perform in the showcase this summer on account of it’s my weekend to work at the hospital (nearly impossible to trade a weekend during the summer). Hope every one has fun & sorry I’ll be missing this event.
