I grew up doing gymnastics and various form of dance but had stopped when I became an adult  do to being a poor student. Pole fitness combines both gymnastics and dance and I love that!!! It fuels both the athlete and the artistic person inside me. 🙂

I find that the solution is different for every person as we all have grip issues for different reasons. I have to wipe down my pole alot when I go hard in class or in practice at home. I have really sweaty palms and the only thing that has helped me has been using an anti persperant hand grip called tite grip. I still have to wipe the pole down during practice but i no longer have to wipe it down between every move and spin.

One thing that has taken me several years to learn is that until I love my body for what it is and not what I want it to be I will never be happy with it. Once I start loving it for doing the wonderful things it can do and appreciating its beauty I start to take better care of it and gradually my visions of what I want my body to be and what it is become closer in similarity. 🙂

  • I had wanted to try pole fitness for years but after a bad break up I made a new friend who was selling her x-pole since she was moving. i jumped on the opportunity as I wanted to really work on my fitness and it had always looked fun. I grew up in dance and gymnastics so the fact that pole fitness used both made it perfect for me! Trying to self teach was slow progress so a couple of months in I joined a class. I started for fitness but I stay in it for the wonderul confidence booster it is. I love the addciting feeling of finally getting a move and feeling so strong and powerful that I can lift my own weight and do things I never thought possible.

Pole has really helped me love my body for what it is and what it can do rather that how it looks. 🙂     <3 pole <3

I often get twitchy muscles after a good workout, eat some protein and drink lots of water! Help them recover!

I don't pole with heels either but anything is better once you put glitter in the name. I say go for a pair. They will be fun to wear no matter what you do!

I use to feel really self conscious when I first started making videos. Sometimes I still do. I'm tryign moves that need stomach showing and I HATE showing my stomach. But I'm really trying to focus on appreciating what my body can do rather then how it looks. I've struggled with my weight over the years so i can understand the feeling of not being happy where you are at even when you have come some way. The biggest reason I started videoing myself is that i had no idea if I was getting better or not. I find it really motivating to look back at when I  first started and compare videos.

Also never worry about being judged on this site. Thats one this I have learned is that the women and men on this site are wonderfully supportive.

i definetly think mirrors are a good idea as they always help in seeing what you are doing….I think another great idea is building in a place for mounting a camera for recording. I always end up balancing mine on stuff to get the right angle. It would be a great idea to incoporate something that like into the design.
