I actually met my man through online dating. I know I know but my approach to online dating, was that I never went looking for dates. I honestly just enjoyed meeting new friends and having different people to chat with (being the only single girl in my social group got boring sometimes) We ended messaging each other back and forth about how we each wanted to change the world and stuff like that.
We were (and still are) in very different places in our lives. He is a little bit younger then me and is a student. I have been graduated and working on my career for a few years now. He is very energetic and when I first met him in person I had decided that he was probably too young for me but he was such a fun and wonderful person that we would be good friends.
We hung out as friends for a while, playing video games, going for hikes and sharing silly cartoons with one another. My roommate at the time really liked him and kept pushing me to date him. I had started becoming interested and tried flirtingg but got little reaction from him so I started to assume that he might just want to be friends. Since he was such an awesome person, I didn't want to weird him out if he didn't see me that way and just wanted to be my friend I decided to back off and let him make a move if he was interested. He was a slow move maker 😉
Finally we went on a hike in a gorgeous rainforest together and ended up getting a tad touchy with one another during it. Later that night he kissed me and we started dating.
I had gotten out of a REALLY bad relationship several months prior and still had the mind set that he was probably too young for me and that it would be just a summer fling. Nice guy, safe relationship and all that.
Well at the end of the summer I had found that I was really started to fall for him and we became more serious. We kept on dating, survived long distance for a while and recently did the big move in together. We will be celebrating our two years this month!
I laugh that I thought he would only be a short term thing and it turned out to be the happiest, healthiest, most fun relationship i have ever been. We support one another, talk things through, make each other laugh, and push one another be be better people. He values me for my strengths and doesn't resent me for my weakness, but rather acknowledges they are part of who I am, and he loves me for who I am. <3
I can only hope that we have many more years together as he makes an ideal partner in crime 🙂

I will be in the friday liquid motion class too! I'm excited to finally meet you ladies in person!

matching criteria would certainly be helpful in making good matches 🙂 Similar time zones would be a must! We could create a questionnaire about what each mentee and mentor were looking for in a potential match and that would aid in pairing up individuals.

I am so so sorry for your loss. sending some positive and healing vibes your way. HUGS

I love love love this idea!!!! I am not sure how we would want to run this thing but I am interested in helping! I personally run a mentoring group in my community so If need be I would be happy to help start things up and helping with matching, encouraging and answering any questions. Mentoring is a wonderful thing. It's a relationship that starts out in a very formal way but turns into life long friendships 🙂
Veena? Webby? What are your thoughts on this idea? Is this something that would be a formal sv thing or that can be created informally within sv members?
If people can let me know if they would like my assistance in starting and maintaining such a program. I would be happy to volunteer to do so. <3 <3 <3
Let's make this thing happen!
