Wow Veena, really good points. I really appreciate your progressive approach, not encouraging people to nail things fast but to but a solid foundations first. PS: I loved your “Gimme more” dance 🙂

I started pole dancing in 2015 so I cannot speak for the early years. But I think I would have loved them, since I belong to the sexy fluidity vs. fitness tricks group 😉👯

Low flow combos and transitions, including floor work. Routines. Combos in general 😍

I can feel you, I’m in general a slow learner and a little chicken, so inverts are always a challenge for me. I always felt I progressed slower than other students in my previous studio. It took me almost 1 year to do a butterfly comfortably, while other ladies did it at the second try.

Now, looking backwards, I’m happy to have taken things slowly, because that allowed me to build the strength and confidence. I think that in pole is much better quality and quantity, lines and technique are key for aesthetic and safety. It blows my mind every time I see people trying a new trick every day, and maybe doing it, but with flexed feet and jerking out of it. Some don’t even have the strength to invert and have to jump and do that ankle hook thing. That’s neither pretty nor safe! I know of somebody who injured herself because she didn’t have the strength to control the dismount from an invert and hit the ground too hard. Take it easy! Things will happen when they have to.

    Good luck 🙂 

Thanks Veena, I did the spinning invert prep today. How many reps do you recommend? I think I did 4 per side.

    Hi Veena, here’s my wishlist:

    * Move: Seahorse, here is a video: https://youtu.be/Uit_9MWjnx0
    * Combo: butterfly (or extended butterfly) into half jade split (or jade).
    * Tips for inverting on spinning. I have no problem on static, but on spinning, I get totally disoriented when I’m upside down and freak out.

I love when you provide different entries and exits for a move.

    Thanks!

  • I don’t remember. It was early January, maybe the new year? It was on the x-pole site, I purchased directly from them.

  • When I purchased mine, shipping was 50% off. It comes in four large, heavy boxes. I don’t think you are going to find free shipping, since it’s so bulky.

  • My story is the same, I used to dance on xPert (on carpet), moved, and had to switch to x-stage Lite in a much bigger room. I don’t specially love the x-stage but it was the only option. I gained the hard base and hard floor in the room vs. previous carpet. I love low flow and x-stage in not the best for that, but you can always modify the moves to make them x-stage friendly. For floorwork, I crawl, roll or walk away from the pole, do whatever I want to do, and return. Handstands/elbowstands are the most challenging, since it’s not easy to modify. Drop splits are also a challenge, but you can modify to half split and to full splits on the floor away from the pole.

Veena, how’s the Shoulder Mount program going? Any estimation of when it will be ready? As I said, I can’t wait 🙂

Me neither. If they feel too tight at first, you can heat the plastic a little with a hair drier and put them on to shape the straps to your feet. I’ve never had to do this though, it’s just something I heard.

I concur with TaraLee, clear plastic provides the best grip, at least based on my experience. Also, I would stay away from studs or any type of metal embellishment. That will hinder the grip and potentially damage the pole or hard floors. In other words, the shoes in the picture are cute but in my humble opinion not the best for poling.
