I've been poling for almost a year (1 year next week!!) and I only told my mother last month. I had to, since i couldn't hide the bruises and muscles no longer in hot weather lol… She took it very well, she said she was suspicious I was doing something because I no longer had a hunched back… really that woman does wonders for my self esteem.. anyway, she was surprised of course, expecially with the ideia of me having a pole in the living room. (I have two poles but only told her about one… baby steps…). I shown her a few videos of pole fitness, not much the dancing and sensual aspect of it and she ok with the idea.
I also recently changed my profile picture on facebook for something pole related, so I'm out of the closed.. so to speak… everyone knows now, and so far 90% of the feedback have been positive… of course there's always someone with something inapropriate to say, but in the end it only matters what you think and how you feel about what your doing.. and I feel pretty good 🙂

I'm afraid you just cant fit… I'm 5'9'', practice barefoot and still have to adjust some moves due to lack of vertical space… specially the handpring mount. My advice, if you cant get another pole, try without shoes it may help a little bit 🙂
happy poling!

I was and still am super unflexible… I was never able to even touch my toes with the legs straight until i start poling. I had a gym teacher in 8 grade that actually made fun of me and said she pitied me, because with my body type I would never be able to it… and I believed her!… fortunately that didnt stop me from trying. I'm following the "splits in 6 weeks" program for over 6 months now (sigh…) I progressed well in the beginning but I've been stuck at about 15cm for a couple of months… and altough I cant do the splits yet I can not only touch my feet but also grab them! so I believe its possible and Im not giving up anytime soon 🙂

It took me months to gather the courage to videotape myself, the thought of someone find/stole it was too scary, but I was having trouble with progress so one day I did it… and I cryed, actually cried my eyes out, it was like all the repressed insecurities and self image issues came back at once. I'd made my peace with the mirror a long time ago… but always hated cameras.. its like they always catch me at bad moments and video was worse… I hated the way I looked.. the way I walked and move, all the tricks seemed wrong… and yet it was the best thing I ever did since I started poling!
yes, some moves were off, I could see that now and make them better. yes, I was clumsy and I'm learning how to move a little bit more graceful, yes my body was out of shape and as i recorded my progress I could see it getting better. so now I tape almost every workout. I still sometimes want to get inside a hole in the ground when I see myself doing something stupid but the moments were I go: "hey.. that was pretty good!" are getting more frequent and my confidence had increased a lot. Not enought to post anything yet… cough.. but i will soon. I manage to post some photos.. so.. babysteps.
Its not easy to change years if not a whole existence of low self esteem and self perception issues but do it, if nothing else, do it for the sake of improving your progress because it does help a lot. I now have more trust in the video then the mirror and Im sorry I didnt start recording everything from the start….

LOL
Actually something like that happened to me when i used iTac2…. one moment was on the pole, the next was on the ground…. obviously the stuff does not work on my skin… still funny though 🙂

I used to be a flat A cup, and thanks to poling im now a perky A cup… 🙂 I usually sigh and roll my eyes when women with big breasts complaint about it. Sure I believe too big can be unconfortable but hey… women are suposed to have breasts and overall is an advantage, its much harder to look sexy and feminine with a shapeless body. And its hard to find small bras too, just last week I passed by a langerie shop and saw a pretty bra. I asked for it in my size and the girl at the store said that they didnt have or even made bras with A cup…! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif i was not happy…
we all have body image issues… I've made my peace with my breasts a long time ago but cant help wishing they were a bit bigger and its not because of men. i agree, men dont care. sure, they are biologicaly programed to notice big breasts, but thats rarely a deciding factor and they know better then to complaint about it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif women on the other hand….ohhh. but I wont go there, I sure most A cups reading this know what i mean.
the important thing is… use your strenghts.
And I'm not against cirurgy, its an option, I've considered a few years back but could not affort it, and now there's no way I'd stay away from the pole! I agree if there is something you dont like about yourself you should try and change it, but make sure you so it for the right reasons.

Oh, ok, I missunderstood 🙂
I also have the same problem from a superman… sigh…

Hi 🙂
I'm sorry if I cant help much… I'm replying because I'm having a similar problem. I can SM with all the different grips, can dismount, do a V, a split, can even hold it one handed… but no aerial… 🙁 I dont have shoulder pain/burn issues (except from over practicing…). Maybe its just lack of strenght, I'll wait for the opinion of someone who's been through it before. However I dont think ear burn its a good sign… you should check your position. One thing I've learned is when I stay too long on a move that its not working I usually pick up some bad habits that are dificult to overcome later and can even get in the way of learning the move properly…

I've had some unconfortable moments while practicing moves like the bum slide and bridges from elbowstand on the pole, but nothing seriuos, fortunately never actually smashed my kitty against the pole…yet.
My boyfriend does not even care anymore, everytime I get a new ugly bruise he just shakes the head like it's hopeless. When I started poling was worse, some days EVERYTHING was hurting, so sex would be like… "ok honey, I'll just lay here if you dont mind". but hey, my body never looked better and I'm more flexible then ever, complaints are not acceptable!
I had an embarassing moment a few month back. I started laser hair removal from my armpits, and I went to a season the day after practicing a lot of teddys and yoginis. The lady looked at it in shock and asked what happenned. I couldn't think of anything better to say, so I just said it was from pole dancing. I dont know if she didnt knew what it was and was ashamed/afraid to ask, or if she thought I was a stripper and didn't want to know anything else. whatever the reason the subject died there, so I'll continue to tell the truth, after all, its not a crime 😉

I'm also "stretchmark friendly".. I have them pretty much all over, fortunally I'm paper white so they almost go unoticed, except in my lower back where I have horrible scars… I grew too much to fast, it almost looks like I've been beaten with a whip… horrible…anyway… I also got a few knew ones from poling but only on my knee pits. I guess if you are prone to it there's not much you can do but try to minimize the damage…
Another thing that I'm getting a lot latelly is spider veins, expecially on the inside of my thigs, back of the knee and feet! Could it be due to poling? or its just coincidence that those are the places with constant contact with the pole? I know I have the genes for it, my mother has her legs covered in them… I would like some insight on the subject, some way to prevent or delay their appearence?

I started with a 50mm and always had grip problems. I thought it was just due to sweaty hands, but with a 45mm I have no grip problems at all! I dont even need to clean the pole more then every 10 min or so, while with the 50mm it is almost after very move. My legs, thighs and armpits however are not happy with the 45mm… maybe its because I'm too skinny or just need time to get used to it (I just got the 45mm less then 2weeks ago) but right now I have bruises all over like I had when first start poling and even simple things like pole sits are painfull again… can't even imagine how a 38mm would feel..

I've slide and had some "emergency exists" from the pole several times, its part of the learning process I supose. I just try to always be aware and prepared in case something goes wrong. My worse fall was a few months back when I tried a jacknife from a cartwheel mount. I could do a solid Jacknife from an extended butterfly, so when I got the cartwheel mount I was so happy and confident that it seemed "natural" that I would be able to do the jacknife from there….. didnt happened.. I didn't had enought strenght and control, gave too much momentum, my legs fell too hard on my shoulder, lost the grip and colapse on the floor… no crash mat. My knee was purple for weeks. All my right side and back was hurt, specially my shoulder (because i didnt let go my botton hand…duh..). I couldn't pole for over a week, and I still sometimes feel a bit of pain on my back when I do a jacknife. Never try that entry again, not that way. I can do a solid cartwheel now and I can fall into the jacknife with plenty of control, I just have to stop with my foot on the pole first, I'm still too afraid to do it otherwise.. Its mostly psycological of course, but I dont wanna pushed it. I'll do it when Im ready and I hope i never forget this lesson – don't get too cocky while poling!
