  • As far as I can determine from this (http://www.livestrong.com/article/35203-muscles-used-during-pull-ups/) article and the way my body feels when I do pole pull ups, it works similar muscles.

Anyway – we've used similar technique when working towards pole pull ups, only we alternate sides (we do several repeats with the right hand up, then the same amount with the other hand, because the one on top works harder), and it works 🙂

I agree with sparrow,  with every trick I try – I alternate between sides.

You will find that it is harder on one side, but with time, there won't be an extreme difference between them, so when you do need the other side (i.e – when there is a trick that requires you to use your left sided invert), you won't get stuck.

That said – I am right handed, and my better side the same as sensualscimitar's –  when I start with my left side to the pole, left hand at about head height and my right hand above it, and I "kick" my right leg up to the pole first.

My BF always wants me to dance for him, and he thinks it is sexy no matter what I do (sexy dance or tricks). Wenever I come home and tell him I learned a new acrobatic trick he wants me to demonstrate it. The problem is that I am very self concious about my dancing, and the fact that it turns him on actually bothers me, because I'm too embarresed and can't detach myself from this thought and concentrate on what I am doing.

In fact, my BF has always been very supportive no matter what kind of physical excercise I take, but I think he is special in that sense; He is really into workout and martial arts (this is how we met), and actually likes very muscular women, so he even thinks that it is sexy when I do push-ups because my muscles get all pumped up and my veins are showing LOL! 🙂

I started with 50mm pole and it still feels most natural to me. I have very large hands and my my grip is better on this kind of pole both with my arms and legs.

When I started on a 45mm pole I really despised it. I felt like I was dancing on a broomstick! Now I got used it it a bit…
