I have to ditto everything that FreeThe Sun said. With practice, the strength will come and eventually the moves will too – then you’ll have new moves to learn that feel awkward. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
One of the things that I have been totally excited about has been how strong I am getting – you’ll take pride in the little changes and victories that come with time! So you are definitely not alone – keep trying! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

MemberSeptember 9, 2009 at 12:18 am in reply to: Dancing for the boyfriend for the first timeI totally understand your nerves – I felt the same way the first time I was going to dance for my hubby. It sounds like you *might* be a little bit of a perfectionist (takes one to know one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif ) and the more I planned the music, the lighting, what I would wear, the more nervous I became.
So one night, after we’d had a good dinner together, I just did it. I wore what I felt like wearing, used the first song that popped into my playlist, gave a little disclaimer that I didn’t have a routine or anything and I hoped he would like it, and you know what? He liked it. And believe me, it was far from perfect!
Your boyfriend doesn’t care about your transitions, or a costume – he will care that you are putting on a little show for him and making an effort. And he will love it.
Good luck and have fun with it!

Amcut – you are too funny. I haven’t tried that dvd yet – I am a little scared. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

Karol – yes, I’ve been using it daily! It’s mounted in the doorway of my husband’s "man room", so he gets a kick out of watching me. I am so determined.
And my shoulder mount – I think I’m getting closer….when I get it you will probably hear me scream! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yeah! Good for you – doesn’t it feel so good to get a new trick? Great job! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I’d love to see more of those – and I am glad you didn’t fall into the cloudy chasm. I’m sure your wrist seat was the highlight of those boys’ trip!

I live in the SE, and I have definitely been sticking more than usual this weekend! I’ve torn my wrists before on humid days – I have found that wearing little tennis wristbands will act as a buffer and protect them. I know that hurts – let it heal up and you’ll be back to practicing in no time! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Wow – those are incredible! I need to keep my eyes out for opportunities to pole in public! What great pics – thanks for sharing!

Yay for you! My husband just ordered his copy this past weekend – I haven’t decided if I’ll do the whole kitten caboodle yet, but I will probably do the diet portion with him. A guy that I worked with did it and had great success – it’s a big commitment but the results are incredible!

Be careful and take your time – in the meanwhile, a frozen bag of peas pressed to your forearm will make it feel better. Please don’t worry about looking like a putz for using a different grip – your instructor would rather than than you get hurt! Good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

The more you do it, the less it hurts – if you are consistent with it you’ll find it gets easier and easier! Just keep trying.
