    That video is really helpful – the other thing that really made a difference for me is switching hands. I thought that I should have my stronger side’s hand under my tush for support, but I really needed to use that hand on top to hold me up. I can’t do it on both sides yet, but switching hands at least got me used to the positioning! Good luck!

    This is really helpful for me, too – Sissybuns, my knee pits are resisting as well! I’m having a hard time figuring out if maybe my placement is off or if they are just weak. I try to work on my gemini consistently but I am not seeing the progress that I want – I am glad that I’m not the only one! I practice it using my hands to support, and am hoping that with time they’ll build up to where I can let go.

    I can identify with that, for sure! When I first started (just this March), I was sure I looked like a fool. I took a class at a local studio and I was very self conscious until I realized that no one was looking at me – they were all worried about themselves. I think that gave me a little freedom to try things and learn. And I was very nervous for my first private lesson – but you know what? If I was already perfect I wouldn’t need her, and she doesn’t expect me to be.

    I got a pole for home practice in May and went through the "I look silly, what am I doing?" phase all over again. What I can tell you that worked for me was just practicing – with the practice comes the skill and the confidence, and the more I get of those things the more I want to practice! I am by no means advanced, but I think the more you do it the more comfortable you will be. Just keep trying!

    I’ve bought a couple of pairs of Pleasers from shoebuy.com and have had a good experience. If you google "shoebuy coupons" you can usually find a coupon code – I got a great deal that way!

    I knew you all would have some good ideas! Giving up my heels would be the last option, of course – but at least there are other things I can try before I get all drastic. I do think that the tendons have shortened – I actually prefer heels because they’re more comfortable. Plus, I’m only 5’0". https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

    When I first started working on the reverse grab, going into it from a chair spin was how I was able to get it. It’s still kind of sketchy for me – I’m scared to get a lot of momentum going into it because I did have an unfortunate incident where I flung myself off the pole (don’t want to do that again!). But if I don’t get enough swing going, it just kind of peters off sadly and barely makes it around the pole once. Any ideas are welcome!

    I’m glad I found this thread – last night I took my pole down because my inlaws are coming over today, and couldn’t loosen the bottom extension from the base to save my life.     Me too, Sissybuns! I can pull my knees up to my chest, but my abs just don’t have the extra strength to tip back yet. I was able to do it one time, about a month ago, after a good practice when I was really warm – but haven’t since. I’ll keep trying – I want to do it the right way!

    This is a great thread – my hands can get a little sweaty especially when I’m learning new tricks and am excited, but add the summer humidity to the mix and it’s a mess! I just started using Tite-Grip and like it so much I don’t know that I’ll try anything else. On normal non-clammy days rubbing alcohol does the trick for me!

    I just caught this week’s episode, and it was actually pole dancing week! I was all excited – even though there wasn’t a lot of actual pole dancing. The pole was more of a prop than anything, almost like decoration, or a garden gnome. But hey, it was decent PR!
