It is in your abs or ribs more? I pulled one of the muscles between my ribs and it was awful – they take a long time to heal, too – breathing keeps them moving, so they don’t get much of a break. Roxy’s right – you prob should see a doc and make sure everything is okay in there. Feel better soon!

I am so glad I stumbled on this thread and ordered a Powerball off of eBay. I have only been using it for 3 days, but can already see a difference.
1. At my silks class today, my forearms didn’t cramp up or wear out on me, which has been a huge issue for me the past few months.
2. My nemesis, my super sketchy, ever-elusive split grip Aysha – happened today! Most days my grip won’t let me do the split grip one – if there is any moisture on my hands, forget it. My grip today felt really good – now I just have to work on the balance and making it pretty.
And it’s easy to do while watching a movie or lounging away – I never would have found this if it wasn’t for you lovely ladies. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

That was awesome! Thank you for sharing it – I was starting to think that I would never get to see her performance! The handcuffs were just ridiculous. So fantastic.

I have this problem too and it sucks! A good tip that I was taught is to "fake" point your toes. Instead of the normal point, move your foot so that the heel is pulling towards the back of your calf. Voila! The effect of a toe point, without the crampy pain. I love a fake point. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif

Hope’s (Keiloces) youtube channel also has Karol’s video – the first clip I have seen of her performance. Probably won’t be up for long – she did a great job!
And Fleur, I loved your reenactment of your routine but it was so gorgeous with all the lights in the performance video. Well done!

AHHHH! I am so bummed – I didn’t get to them either.

Hi Joni! I have been taking silks too and love it – it complements pole strength very well! I don’t know of any online lessons, but there’s a little silks wiki site that I check out – some of the names of moves/wraps are different than what I have learned, but it helps.

And PS? I am so jealous of your home silks setup! Enjoy. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Mentally, what made this one click for me was the hip tilt. Think of OPENING your hips to the side – I’m left handed, so I put my left foot up high, tilt my hips open to the right, and hook my right ankle. Hope that helps! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I would love to hear some scoop, too! So, apparently, the camera police were a little lax this year at the competition but it sounds like footage may not end up on youtube – I am dying to see these performances. Where are they? If you share I won’t tell….it can be our little secret. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

So sorry to hear you are having a tough time with ovarian cysts – those are really painful. I have several friends who have had them, and in their cases it wasn’t part of a bigger problem – they had one, and then it was done without any issues. Hopefully the birth control pills will regulate your hormones so that you won’t have another one!
Your question about it being related to poling is interesting – I am definitely not a doctor, but I would imagine you would have to have a pretty traumatic injury to cause something like that. I have definitely banged the hell out of my lower midsection, but my hipbone seems to take the brunt of it and keep the pole from pressing on anything more internal. That’s not to say it could never happen and everyone is different – but I also think that the great ab strength you are gaining will further protect them. Just my two cents – I sure hope you feel better soon. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
