Oddly enough I just tried a pair of the gloves Sam sells, there’s actually a lot of give in them, they were slightly too big on me if I’m honest but all upside down stuff was fab in them, I only noticed the give when I was the right way up. I’m not really a gloves type of person though, I like my spins too much

Glad you gals liked the vid https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I do drink and pole (like I drink and do gymnastics), but I don’t actually get that drunk (I get drunk when I drink wine and I don’t drink that when I go out on the town) and don’t pull any risky moves (I tend to stick to spins mainly, with the occasional invert). Besides my coordination when drunk is absolutely fabulous, I can do every sobriety test going – want me to walk in a straight line, I’ll do it on my hands https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
However I do recognise that it is a silly thing to do and why risk unnecessary injury? I think I’ve just had the sense knocked out of me from all those years of gymnastics https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I kept going, "Argh, it’s mothers day?!" until I realised the states has a different mothers day to the UK https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Well, as I said on Twitter, I’m intrigued, hehe.
Also I’d well be up for coming over, you know if I ever manage to win the flaming Euromillions https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Never mind poling drunk, I used to do gymnastics drunk https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I still occasionally pull a few moves but nothing extreme. But my first year at Uni I used to head straight to the grass outside our halls of residence and chuck aerial cartwheels http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJzblM2IfJs (excuse the vid, I found the way he described it quite funny – the actual aerial is quite far into it). I stopped chucking aerial cartwheels when I misjudged a landing, didn’t hurt myself, but realised I could have done.

I’m 24, 5ft7 and I don’t weigh myself (I think that comes from when I used to get weighed a lot when I did gymnastics).
No kids, no boyfriend (and that’s fabulous right now because I have so little free time that I want to do what I want rather than having to go see a bloke).
The first time I touched a pole was on my 21st birthday night out and all I did was pose for a picture then run off, hehe. I kept going back to that club and started doing spins, looking on youtube for more things I could do. I did a pole dance taster session with my sister, but it was far too expensive to carry on with the school who run it. Then I found some pole dancing forums and found my current instructor through them, and away I went.
Because I had done gymnastics I was one of those highly annoying https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif gals who got a move first time with hardly any effort (I got my Iguana mount on my second ever attempt). I hit a wall then, and even now I still struggle with a lot of the moves that involve pain.
I kind of want to get back into gymnastics for the flexibility and the fun factor of flicks and somersaults, but I’m very aware of how creaky my joints are getting, I feel like an old woman sometimes https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Am I the only one who loved the song then https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
You’ve probably seen this one, but I’ll post anyways, hehe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUppVDO-fmQ&feature=related that’s Felix’s encore

Amcut, for working out which grip you’d prefer, try having one hand on the floor and the other on the pole either in elbow or forearm grip and see which one feels more comfortable.
I’m an elbow gripper myself so here’s a couple of tips for that one. When first putting the elbow on the pole don’t put it directly in front, angle it downwards, so when you bend your arm your elbow will be pointing down towards your belly button slightly. Then bend the elbow making sure the pole is right in the crook of the elbow. Then to lock the grip try and pull your elbow up slightly towards the floor.
The problem with the elbow grip is that people think of it as simply hooking it onto the pole and leaning back to counter balance when really the above process of getting the pole right into the elbow and locking the grip is really important for the grip to feel stable.
I’m sure someone else will be able to give advice on the forearm grip.

It’s up to you really, I had a similar problem and was inverting on my "wrong side" in order to have my dominant hand on top. However one day I tried it with my non-dominant arm on top and found it a lot more comfortable and have been doing it that way ever since.
What works for one person wont work for another, and I know a lot of people who do prefer to invert on their non dominant side to get their dominant arm on top for the superman

I mainly stay on static. I do like a bit of spinny but I haven’t mastered the art of staying on for long without falling over and demanding a bucket once I come off https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Dizziness is perfectly normal with spinny (a friend of mine has to take travel sickness tablets before going on spinny). Apparently it’s something you get used to and can stay on for longer without getting as dizzy.

About the jiggling, chances are that the hex screws that turn the pole onto spinny at the bottom aren’t quite tight enough, tighten them in as far as they will go (also ensure that these are in line with the little X’s on the base).
As for not being able to get it apart, the quick release tools are a lifesaver, also it’s easier to try and twist the pole apart when it’s up (just loosen it off slightly at the top).

I think personally that we should wait until a few of us have had the chance to test it out and report back before condemning it.
I’ve spoken with Riley about this pole and she is really excited over it and I trust her judgement. I’m going to go an test it out as soon as I get the chance to (which hopefully should be either this month or next month) because let’s face it, I’m a much bigger (and heavier) lass than Riley and I’d like to see if it could stand up to the Lola test. I am actually really excited over this pole and I don’t think I’ve seen enough to make me poo poo it at this stage.

Deb Rileys’ going to do a tour around the UK soon with these poles so we can see for ourselves what they are like. I’m looking forward to it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Don’t personally want a 38mm but a stageless stage pole does float my boat.
Watching the vids I don’t see that it has any more flex than the X-stage or any other stage pole does (granted the gals on it are tiny)

Yeah, I had meant to get the spins sorted on WikiPole sooner, but sorting out the moves directory left me not wanting to take on another big project so soon. I will be sorting it out in the next few weeks, and if anyone has any vids (ideally just showing the one spin) then please message me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Dry Hands is fabulous in my opinion, it’s so good that I can’t actually spin when I’ve just applied it on my hands
