MemberJuly 13, 2009 at 12:52 pm in reply to: For Fashion Enthusiasts With a Knack for SewingI know exactly what style I want. I want an underbust corset with a small V shape to come between, but accentuate boobs, for it to sit just above the top of the hips because I’ll still need a good range of motion for pole dancing, and the bottom hem will be flat and rounded completely. I’ll be wearing a garter skirt with this. I want the fabric to be sort of a tight woven embroidered brocade pattern, much like what you would see on the typical lingerie corset from Fredericks of Hollywood. I was considering going for steel boning, just because the plastic does have the tendency to sort of bend and warp and lose its shape no matter how good a care I take of it. I also want it to be easy to remove. I was thinking of using an invisible zipper for closure on the side, but still including closure in the front with the Edwardian look. Does that sound like the type of corset you can wear a bra to match it with or do you just go with a shirt? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
I’m not completely sure on what type of fabric I should use for the inner layers. I don’t want anything stretchy because of the fit I’m hoping for. I read about coutil and I’m not sure if that’s a fabric for the outside or the inside. It seemed to have all of the properties I’m looking for. Any tips for what fabric would provide the best support and structure? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_study.gifThanks for all of the help https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

MemberJuly 12, 2009 at 10:12 pm in reply to: For Fashion Enthusiasts With a Knack for SewingWith how a lot of series post clips and highlights on the websites for the channels their shows come on, I might be able to find a clip for it on there. I did find one website with beginner kits, like with the boning and stuff included. But they were all sold out https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif But I’ll keep looking. So far I have costume ideas for three songs : Circus – Britney Spears, Smooth Criminal – Micheal Jackson, and the Moulin Rouge song Lady Marmalade that Christina Aguilera, Mya, P!nk, and Lil’ Kim did. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif So I’ll be busy busy whenever I get my hands on all the right patterns https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

You definitely want to stick with shoes with straps. Mules are okay if you have the experience dancing in them, but yes, they will come flying off. I have a pair with buckles and I have not experienced any scratching on the pole because their position rests around the ankle and not at a place where my foot would connect with the pole to damage it. Once you find the style you like, I recommend looking for it on other discount sites. I’ll try to find a list to get back to you with stores so you can save a bit while shopping https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Absolutely beautiful. I started to tear up a bit while watching it. If any thanks is to be given, all of the glory surely goes to you and webmaster. You two have begun something so genuine and rare that I am lost for words to describe how thankful I, and everyone else, must be for it. Although you may have given up on a brick and mortar studio, in time I’m sure it will still come to fruition…and it’ll beat the pants off the rest of these pansy studios for sure. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif An online community of people who are positive, encouraging, sincere, and talented is a sheer pleasure to be a part of. Thank you for all of your hardwork. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I know it seems like its tough now, but you don’t have to go it alone and that’s a lot more than some women that have been in that situation can say. I’ve never met you, but from what I hear, this is a much needed break away for you and after you let go of all of the things that are weighing you down, you’ll truly know what happiness and joy are soon. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif And if anyone doesn’t accept the changes you’re making to improve the quality of your life, then tell them they can kiss your well toned ass. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I know when I’m going through a tough time I like musical therapy to cheer me up. A friend sent me The Drugs Don’t Work by Verve and it always helps. So here is my song to you : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRWfmW-LDIQ

Like all dance forms and sports, your movement originates from the core. That is your source of balance, stability, and strength. So for those of you struggling with your turns, engage those stomach muscles and "spot". Imagine yourself as a spinning top, a line is running through you from top to bottom, and the more you flare out during your turns, the more your turns will become more erratic and unbalanced, so keep your posture and as always practice makes perfect. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Also, I will be posting my videos on youtube, once I get them up I’ll let you guys know. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif -
I highly recommend everyone watches the dance Demi Moore did in Striptease. She does a good bit of work away from the pole and captivates the audience by performing a very Madonna/Bob Fosse style dance in menswear. It’s a very good example of how you can use the pole more as a prop and not as the sole means of performing (a good idea for those of you wowing men at amateur nights https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif )Ballerinas cant take the barres on stage, so really get comfortable with yourself and do a bit of floor work or short 8 count routines until you feel ready to put a full masterpiece of your own together. Maybe at some point Veena will post step by step tutorials for dances based on level so people can get an idea of how varied skill can always create something wonderful. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I’d honestly love to see some chair lessons https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif not by that lying skank Carmen Electra of course https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif
