I do aerial rope and silks as well as pole, and this move is used to climb the rope and silks as you get much higher, quicker!
We refer to it as russian climb in my aerial class, but I have also held it called spider climb in pole! So many names, confusing!

I’m not entirely sure what moves you are refering to, but with the bracket hold or split grip, your bottom hand should be pushing you away from the pole only, and not taking any weight at all. If you can’t hold yourself with the top hand only I think you are likely to injure your wrist. I would say don’t use this grip until you are stronger, and if it hurts your wrist at all work on something else for a while. Good luck!

Pleasers are so comfy for heels!
Although I have carpet in my pole room, and I find if I swivel on the ball of my foot it marks the carpet https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Is kinda annoying, but the marks come off with stain removal foam stuff.

I have heard a horrible story about someone getting their belly button barbell caught in the small hole in an x-pole while inverted…
I do not fancy trying to get it out while hanging upside down, could so easily get ripped out eeeuuww! If you do get it done I would cover it up while poling!
