Seeing the Michael Jackson cirque show in Baltimore in a couple of weeks. Hope the touring show includes a pole act!

Interesting about absinthe. I really couldn’t tell from the promos what is about. The clip I saw had a dare for one woman to kiss another woman on the boob. I didn’t ” get it”. There are so many shows – it was hard to determine which shows were worth the money. Maybe on the next trip I will put absinthe on the list to see.

Not really a mall- more a collection of specialty shops (read expensive). however it is on the harbor which is nice and there a lot of activities.

I was in LV last week and saw both o and zumanity. Both shows were great in different ways. Zumanity has a male pole act that was great and an aerial act with a male midget ( I am sorry if that is not the correct term) that was sensational. O was a lot of trapeze and some other acts – no pole. Zumanity was running a great deal of buy one get one for ten bucks.

224! Surely the world stopped when you stepped back off the scale! Oh wait…it didn’t. NOTHING changed except for your thinking. You CAN get over it and you will. Go back and dance around your pole like you did before your saw the number – yes I saw your videos :). Continue to eat healthy. Life is more than a number!

People just start laughing when I tell them that I pole. 🙂

Last night at my studio class I climbed the pole. Not just a little bit but all the way to the top. It’s embarrassing to tell you you how long it took me to learn but I can tell you that this fat old lady felt freakin’ amazing. When I got down I had to go right back up bc I could not believe I did it. I called my daughter. I called my husband and I even told the receptionist at the fitness center. My first post to this site was about how I couldn’t climb….and now I can! Yea me! It really is an ego boost. Don’t give up.

This is not really a technical response but was useful when someone brought it to my attention. Before I got my pole I thought about the space dimensions and the ceiling issues. I ultimately decided to put it in the basement. After it was there I realized that the basement was never “my” space and it felt unfamiliar. So although I had no issues wanting to pole, I never wanted to go to the basement. I guess I am trying to say that, in addition to the technical considerations, you should put your pole in a place that “feels” right.

I call it my “old lady” ritual. Oh well – getting old is not fun but it beats the alternative of not being mobile at all. If I had known how I was going to feel in my fifties, I would have done a lot of things differently in my twenties!!! Why o why is wisdom wasted on the old 🙂

Some would say being on the pole itself lacks “common decency”. I long ago learned that there is no such thing as “common” so I don’t judge those who prefer more coverage and I would hope to not be judged if my coverage differs from theirs.

So sad that so many women are ashamed of breasts, nipples, and vaginas. I am not taking a stand on the code. An owner is free to make that decision. It was just sad reading through this thread that so many women were or would be offended to see these parts of our own bodies. perhaps I am too jaded or forward thinking, but just how different could your part look from mine? For the most part a boob is a boob is a boob. How offensive could it possibly be to see something that a million other women have-including me! That said, I agree that from a sanitary and safety perspective, the amount and type of clothing should be a consideration.

Thanks Ladies! I guess I shouldn’t be asking for a lively class but what style yoga best works on flexibility? If it is the Hatha style I am more than willing to tough it out and remain in the class. Thanks again for your thoughts.

R34. You know I never really thought about where I put the pole. You have such a good point. I put the pole up in our basement/man cave. It is the place when the males of my family hang out. Pre pole I rarely went down there for fear of I might see…dirty underwear on floor, months old food, pee on the toilet, well you get my drift! It is an unfamiliar and uncomfortable space for me so no wonder I am having some adjustment issues!
Veena, if it were not for you lessons I would still be standing there looking at the new pole and wondering “what next”? Especially since I have been injured, the lessons have been invaluable in helping me to focus on strength and learning the technical nuances that I missed the first time around.

When I was young people used to say that I stole the meat and potatoes off of my sisters’ plates because they were taller and thinner and I was shorter and thicker. They took after my mother and I took after my father. Just the luck of the draw. This translated to a bout of aneroxia for me as a teen and a current issue of being an exercise-aholic. I am not downing those that support this type of division…only trying to emphasize the seriousness of body type implications on girls/women in our culture.
On a lighter but similar note, if there is a booty shaking/clapping/twerking event maybe we can have a special category for those with little or flat butts! 🙂
At the end of the day, I go back to a skill is a skill is a skill.
