My instructor always says you need one time through a level to learn what it is about and a second to get it right at least. You could tell that to your class maybe, and indicate that there is no shame in doing a level over again if things are difficult. Mention the option of private lessons to the class in general, don't look straight at her or anything, but word it so that she knows it is a good option for her, just don't single her out. Bottom line is though, that you are the teacher of the class and if you don't feel it is right for her to go up, you have to indicate that to her. It will do her more harm that good to go up when she is not ready to.

I would not use gloves. Grip aid should be enough. I think gloves don't really help to develop your grip, they are more of a 'cheat' if you get my drift? I started with Tite Grip, which my studio recommended, then tried Mighty grip which I like, but then tried Itac, which was better, and better again with a little mighty grip thrown on top, lol! I recently tried Dry Hands, and quite liked it, but again topped up after a while with Mighty Grip and just the last couple times I have poled I tried out Liquid Grip, which is not too bad, and smells prettier than the others, lol!
These days I try and remember to use Tite Grip like half an hour before I pole, use Itac2 level 3 then if I feel I am slipping at any stage, top up with Mighty Grip, but like I said, I wouldn't use gloves myself.

The place I go to for lessons has Pussycat poles in brass in all four of their studios and I have never seen a problem with them. They switched to them last year from X-Poles, mostly because they are local and at that stage X-Pole didn't have a brass pole available and the owner loves brass. I myself have a brass X-Pole and love it, ut if I were buying I would probably get a Pussycat one simply to support local industry, and I know that they are a quality product having seen them in action and used them myself.
Hope my two cents worth helps!

Dare I use the words Chin-up or Pull-up? These have improved my pole strength immensely and are something you can do at home with one of those over the door things. They are harder than you might think to do with good form though! The Pull-up is harder but also better as it is better for the back muscles than the chin-up where the biceps take the majority of the work upon themselves.

Actually, yes he is! He worked professionally as a photographer until kids started coming along, and then that ind of lifestyle just didn't fir with the needs of children so he stopped working professionally as a photographer, but it continues to be a great passion for him and he loves to photograph me, although I really don't love to be photographed, lol!

OK, just wondering for those of you who either have done this program or are doing it, do you notice that some days you are just better than others with it? I notice differences that while not huge are still there, but only in the final exercise, the splits themselves. The other exercises progress almost on a daily basis and become better, however my split can vary from day to day. They are better than 10 days ago when I started for sure, but yesterday was better than the day befor which was a little worse than the day before that, which was an awesome day( but yesterday was better than said awesome dot, yay!)

Shellectra, I can do the stretch, but you could get a pilates resistance band from Kmart or BigW to help you.

My story isn't really inspirational or anything else really. I used to see the studio I now attend from the train regularly and wonder what it was like then decided one day to try it(much to my boyfriend's delight I discovered). I enrolled, and the teacher who was supposed to be teaching my class was away for the first couple weeks, and although I liked it, it wasn't really gripping me until the proper teacher arrived back and then I was hooked!

My teacher teaches us to raise our legs to position a split second before dropping our torso back which eliminates the sensation of falling she says you can get doing this trick and means that the tailbone would not take a knock the way that you are describing. Not sure if the way I put it makes sense though. She describes it as bringing your knee back to the pole as soon as your legs are locked in position then laying back. It all happens soo fast that it is not totally obvious to the onlooker but it certainly works for me. I never even considered a bruised tailbone as a possibility before reading this post, but now I can see how it could happen and I think that the bringing of the knee to the pole would prevent it.

I am with Runemist, there is no excuse for using that sort f grammar and spelling, especially when you are trying to promote yourself or your business, and there is also no excuse for that method of criticism of another establishment or product.

Was the $10.95 for the powder alone or was it for the powder and the gloves? If it was for both I am guessing you get a little sprinkle of powder as a tester with the gloves, if it was in addition to what you payed for the gloves then you should have gotten a bottle of powder in my opinion.

Another one suffering with a distinct lack of self confidence here. I was at a point where I couldn't even look in the mirror before I started pole, it got a lot better then I ran afoul of a few of the ladies at the studio I go to and to make matters worse we had to take down my pole at home because we are renovating(I haven't practiced in almost 4 months only been to lessons). Everything went back almost to square one with the self confidence, and I was even considering switching pole studios because of it. I have a much better group in my class this term so that at least is better, but I am still having problems. In the studio where there are mirrors everywhere I have big problems because I really cannot look in a mirror much but I have developed a way to look and see the lines and what my body is doing without actually seeing 'me' if you know what I mean). I am most certainly NOT comfortable in my own skin right now, and I cannot even think about putting up a video for quite a while! The pics I have up are a challenge because every day I just feel like taking them down!

MemberMarch 17, 2011 at 9:49 pm in reply to: I am buying a PS Star Stand Alone 3.0 tomorrow!!!Aren't PS the ones with the pole that attaches to the hitch bar on the back of your truck? I have serious doubts about that one too, lol! They show the girl getting driven about holding onto the pole but I don't think it has the integrity for much other than that because if it did they would show it in the ad, wouldn't they? If they are who I think they are I saw an ad for their stage where a guy said "There is something wrong about a girl who has to install her own stripper pole" and made some joke about every pole coming with a free pregnancy test and how you can bring your Daddy issues with you along with your pole. If a company says stuff like that about the users of it's product, I am sorry, they just don't have my support because they have no respect for their customers.

Not wanting to alarm you, but you could get your iron count checked if you are really worried because if it is low you would bruise easier. I wouldn't be that worried, everyone is different as you said, everyone is different,, but it was just a thought I had. I bruised way more when I wasn't taking iron. Also, I have found that hemorrhoid cream works really well for bruises, better than arnica.
