These guys are amazing and have separate programs for front and side splits.  I find it really helpful. http://valentinobrothers.com/products.html

I like most of them, but with the P'Zazz one, how about PoleZazz?  Polezazz Fitness, Polezazz Dance, it kinda works for me, but I am not always the one to go by on these things, lol!

Pole burn is a natural part of pole when you start to do something new.  It does go away but will come back sometimes when you learn a new trick.

Oh, thought I had better add that a group of us who were doing a number together in a showcase last year all got Pleaser 609 and a lot of them got sizes that were quite small and when it came to floorwork they had problems as their toes were hanging out quite a lot over the edge.  They said it was very painful.

They are American sizes I believe and they are different to British sizes.  Look up an international shoe size  conversion chart and go from there.  If you are buying locally ask if they are resized to British sizes.

As a general rule, the thinner the pole, the easier it is to use.  That said, if you use a 38mm one then then if you go somewhere and they have a 45mm you will find things much harder.  My instructor recommended a 45 as it is in the middle and using that should give you the flexibility to be able to use other sizes.  I know that I have no problems with the 50mm ones at the studio after practicing on the 45mm at home.  The 38mm brass also at the studio are much easier, and the tricks I master at home on my 45mm are easier than at home and therefore look better for show off purposes, lmao!!

Wow!  Your story could almost be mine.  I have a lot of the same kind of looks and comments from people for the same reason.  I kept th pole dancing quiet for a bit, but when I was just learning they were always commenting on the bruises so I came clean and played up the fitness and weight loss aspect of it.  I prefaced it with the "Not that I need to lose weight, but…"and when I gave figures for it from my studio's weight loss challenge they ran where the competitors took 3 classes a week and the winner lost 12 kilos and 53% of her body fat they started to look at it in a bit of a different light.  I think they still disapprove, but they can't say anything in front of me about it now since I pretty much proved it is a healthy pastime, lol!  Just don't pay attention to them if they criticise, I know from experience that can be close to impossible to do, but now I just take a perverse pleasure in knowing that I am fitter and likely healthier than the majority of them and that I have loads more fun getting that way than even the Gym junkies amongst them!

when my shoes begin to wear in patches I use matching nail polish rather than a sharpie because it is shiny and also quite durable.  I use it on the heels if they get scratched up too.

Oh, and also Rihana's Rude Boy, although I am pretty much sick of that one myself, it was done to death at my pole studio last year, lol!

The comment about shoes rang true with me  The tops of my feet were really sore when I first started the pole climb and my teacher suggested I try different shoes because the ones I was wearing had a strap across the top of my foot that I didn't even realise was hurting but when I tried her shoes it became clear and I changed my shoes and then the bruising got better very quickly.  I avoid any shoes with straps any lower on my foot than the ankle now when learning a new move.  Once i have the move it doesn't matter so much because I have the foot placement etc right by that time and the straps wont irritate so much but before that point I am very careful which shoes I wear.

Well, since I have only purchased contemporary music since starting to pole last year, mine would be intresting to say the least, since the first thing I ever bought was the Prokofiev Flute Sonata in D.  Wonder how that would work out…
