eeh…i hate the fact that you can't go back and edit your post…
I had typos…what I meant was "the more confuse I am with my size"… =P

Ah! The more post I read up here…the more confuse with "my size"!! I'm 5'4 with small hands (6.5" from bottom palm to tip of middle finger – grabbing a 50mm i'll have a 0.5 inches gap)….Should I got for 45mm or 50mm?? I'm currently taking lessons in a studio and they only have 50mm brass there, but once I got my pole, I'm going to learn from home on SV.
There are no other studios around my area either so I can't try other sizes out…argh!!!!
-
Welcome Stevesgirl~~ I'm a newbie too!! I found out about SV through Dirdy Birdy's and Tara Karina's youtube. Sorta like you, I started a couple of classes in the studio…and the studio is an hr drive from my house.
I love SV! People are very supportive…I hope (someday) I'll be good enough with my poling skills to video myself and put it up here…lol

I've decided…Gonna rub iTac 4 and Mighty Grip all over my body before learning any new move that's more then 3 feet off the ground…lol
But seriously…thank you for sharing…I will now be much more aware to have someone to spot for me (and be extremely cautious when attempting the Caterpillar) . My pole instructor is a very sweet person but sometimes she forgets to spot for us, on top of that, she wants the class to learn all pole moves on heels (I refused to because I almost sprain my ankle in one class…now I only wear ballet flats). Kepping telling myself…safety first…safety first…!!

So instead…I spin on the right…got REALLY dizzy…then I start to spin on the left to even it out…LOL It's dumb…but it works for a bit. I'm going to get some motion sickness pills and try it for next class.
Oh…last night was the first time I REALLY notice a change in temperature really affect pole moves…The temperature dropped down to 50s (it was int he 70s) and I could barely climb on the pole again!! Argh! It took me 40min just to warm up the pole and do a firmen pullup…sigh…
I think I'll try the heater method (using a heater to warm up the pole) once I get my pole…

Sounds like inversion is the most dangerous fall…I should consider getting a crash mat before I learn those moves!

I’d been using Mighty Grip, it helps but only ONE move at a time. I need to wipe my hands in between moves =\

MemberApril 27, 2011 at 8:31 pm in reply to: My first full climb up the 14′ pole and did a Goddess!!I can't seem to find the exact move online…but Dirdy Birdy's Angel Spin is the closest but instead of your knees holding the pole, you do a pole sit.
BTW – I LOVE dirdy birdy…her moves are sooo elegant!!

MemberApril 27, 2011 at 6:01 pm in reply to: My first full climb up the 14′ pole and did a Goddess!!@ chemgoddess – heathlynne is right on "outside leg hang with knees bent and inside leg anchoring outside leg " — a more closer description is "a pole sit with your upper body in front (so the pole is in your back) and your arms stretch out back". There are so many names for the same move!! I believe another name for this is "Angel".
@ heathlynne – thank you thank you!! In two month, in total I took 9 classes. I wish I can attend more (some girls take 3-4 classes a week) but too far a drive and hard to find parking =/ I'm hoping once I get my own pole, I can sign up for Veena classes and practice more at home. Oh, about the pole — I never been on a static pole before…lol I actually would like to try it one of these days…maybe when I get m XPole Xpert =P
—THANK YOU everyone for being so supportive!! When I told my bf and my friends about my "pole-accomplishment"…none of them seems interested…so that's a bummer! But 24hrs passed…and I still can't stop smiling about my climb…haha LOL (I still have a lot to work on…BUT…it's a start!!!)
About dizziness…I will try some of the methods you girls point out…but I do hope eventually I'll get used to it. Thank you Thank you!!! ^_^
