QUESTION – Although I can do an invert w/o kicking, I'm still having trouble holding on to the pole with my legs only. I remember when I did it in the studio (50mm) it was hard but I could still let go for a few seconds before I need to grab onto the pole again, but at home I have a 45mm…My hands couldn't even let go for a second! Any tips on how to get a better grip?? Or it just takes time?
Also, I FINALLY dig out the video camera…now I need to figure it out how to post it here on Veena https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
PS. It's great to be able to tell someone about my pole progress…LOL No one in my real life (bf included) could understand why I get so excited over pole moves…LOL

Good news: He just bought me a 5" thick crash mat from Amazon…and I can continue my practice when the mat arrive https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I heard a lot of people hurt themselves while learning SM. It’s definitely one of my dream moves…but it definitely make me nervous…

I was debating between those 2 sizes too…but I was leaning towards 50mm just because it was "industry standard" and I learned on a 50mm brass (which I HATE).
However, I spoke w/ a couple other polers (Natasha…Dirdy Birdy…) and they all said same thing. Short Summary of what they said – "Go for the 45mm – get comfortable and strong…then move up. If you're struggling with a 50mm, it might drive you away from poling. How can you enjoy pole dancing when you hate your pole?? Besides, all major competitions are using 45mm chrome anyway."
And they are soooo right….I LOVE my 45mm Chrome…its a lot easier to grip and spin. I feel more confident dancing on the pole now (I still suck mind you…but at least the diameter is not so intimidating anymore)
Hope this helps!!

~HUGS~ I'm sorry Tarah… I know how you feel… My best friend died in Japan a few years ago. He was hit by a car while he was riding his bike to work. That guy even stole his bicycle…The saddest part is he was in the Navy, stationed in Japan…however, he only had 3 days left before he was suppose to send home for good.
I was a wreck for a very long while…..
Tragic incidents happen…but I believe time will heal. Be strong and keep his memory alive.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend's family. ~BIG HUGS~

I checked my pole last night…everything seems to look fine. (Wheeew…::wiping sweat on forehead::) But then, I've only had my pole for a little over a month and I only pole 2-3 times a week. (keeping my fingers crossed!!)
When you guys said "rotated joints" I'm guessing it means you can't find the hole of the "hex"?? Or your x-joints just get stuck in the pole tube??
I applied anti-seize lubricant on all the thread prior to putting my pole together, and so far I've taken my pole down several times and they were never stuck. I highly recommend that product…
For people who have a "stuck" joints, have you tried spray WD40 and let it sit for a little bit then try to get it out again? Maaaybe it helps w/ a little lube….

I have the same problem…I get bored easily…especially when I don't know what I'm doing…LOL
I got reeeally excited when I discovered Veena's beginner routine. I learned all of the beginner moves already, faaaar from perfect but I can do them…and doing the beginner routine (practicing the beginner moves) with music in the background helps tremendously.
I also saw a couple of Dirdy Birdy's beginner routine on YouTube, I try to mimic her dance and when it comes to moves where I'm not familiar, I'll just search on Veena's lessons and learn it from there (I learned how to do the body wave from Veena last night!!! Yes, it's a simple move…but I really had no clue as to how to start..LOL Her description of "snuggle against the pole like a cat" works like a charm!!)
Happy Poling~~

Eeek…your post reminds me to check my pole tonight when I get home!!
I also have a 45mm XPert, I didn't have any issue with installation but one section of the pole I received was defected (it has tiny dents on the side where it cut my hands) I called up XPole US, took some pictures, send it to them and they send me a new one.
My bf bought me my pole early June…I put it up mid-June and I haven't checked it since then. I hope hope hope the joints are holding up. I live in a tiny apt where I have limited space and can only use a pole that doesn't require drilling, I didn't have any other choice other than XPole…
@Butterflies – I hope XPole can your issue!! Keep us posted!! ^_^

Any one have the Mika Kila Top?? It looks really sexy with support. Since I'm only a 34B, I want to find something that shows some curve yet my "girls" won't fall out during a dance…lol
PoleFit looks nice, especially the new V Front dance top, but even with the lower neckline, I'm not sure if it'll look flattering on girls that have smaller chest?
Also, any one have the PoleFit Brazil shorts? I was about to order then I got hestiate again on the size…S or XS?? I have a perky 33" butt.

@jkpolegirl – I bought my foot undeez from Amazon for $15 w/ free shipping. You can also buy them through discountdance.com but they charge like $3-4 for shipping. More information – street shoes I wear 7 sometimes 7.5, and my foot undeez is size small.

I actually bought a bottle of iTac spray from Theo (thanks again!! ~hugs~)…and it works like a charm…
I use Tite Grip, iTac2 level 3 and sometimes Mighty Grip so there are a lot of "gunk" on my pole…after each pole session it takes me forever to clean my pole with alcohol…it is especially hard to get the iTac2 off (I have an xpole chrome btw). With the iTac spray, it comes of sooooo easily. And after you clean the pole, wait until its total dry before trying to get on the pole or it'll feel reeeeally slippery. I'm not sure if it improves my grip (I have really sweaty hand…this reminds me to e-mail Peter for a level 4 sample…lol) but it's definitely the best cleaner I've tried so far.
