Hi and good luck on your new awesome hobby.  I am also fairly new to pole, I started out at my local studio which I absolutely love but since money is a little tight Ive just signed on to this site.  Ive also tried dvd's, specifically Leigh ann's instructional dvd, but feel like she wasnt able to break things down and explain the rationale on how and why you do things.  I also felt the dvd focused on the very sexy aspects when in the beginning you should focus on building strength and just getting used to your pole. But to answer your question, i think any beginner dvd will give you at least most of what you need to know to get a good start on pole.  Good luck and have fun!!!!
