I remember being told that you should only use a face mask or exfoliant once a week. You do get gentle daily exfoliants but if it doesn't specifically say so, I'd be careful of using them too often.
Then keep it simple, wash, tone, moisturise.
Anyway, that's what I do.

MemberJanuary 10, 2011 at 6:02 am in reply to: Forearm numb after pole last night…pinched nerve?Fortunately my physio says it's nothing serious, a slightly pulled muscle in my forearm. Unfortunately it's still bugging me 3 days later 🙁 But not badly, I can still exercise, it just twitches if I straighten then bend my arm, and some of the skin on my forearm is still numb. I have a follow up appointment on Wednesday with my physio.
And in chatting to my poledance instructor about it, she said "Was it from Invert Barbie?" Duh, that's exactly what it was! We did a really long tricks class on Thursday night (probably 2 hours plus of trying moves and then watching/ learning, etc) which is a lot longer than I'd usually do. And I did 3 invert barbies (not sure what you guys call this, elbow grip, other hand overhead, similar to Aysha but body against pole not away from pole).
So now I know what caused it and I know to take it a bit easier!!

In South Africa we have really really slow broandband speeds so I can't watch them at all 🙁
But Veena says there may be a solution for me in the near future, yay Veena!

Another thing to consider is a change in diet with the winter weather? I know if you eat a heavy meal or very starchy, it will make you tired? Might also make a difference…

MemberDecember 15, 2010 at 8:17 am in reply to: Let the bruises heal some, or keep on poling?I think this is a fine balancing act! I think it’s good to keep working the moves even if it’s a bit uncomfortable, but from what you’re saying you’re seriously bruised! I know when we do class, we tend to move around between different types of moves so we can practice a wider range of moves (or is that to get bruises in many places at once??)
I remember Veena putting up a comment about how often a week a beginner should practice and I never completely got it, but I can tell you that today after 2 back to back days of hard poling and normal stretching and toning with my husband, I’m sore to a point that I can recognise I need to take a break.
Take it easy, be careful with yourself!

Well done! You have really dropped into it well, even if you still see room for improvement (don’t we all!)
I haven’t done Cross Ankle Release yet but it seems like the skills needed to move from CKR to CAR is a big step. It might be worth working on some other moves in the meantime?
Other people may have better advice for you though!

Perfectly straight, you look fantastic! But the best for me is that big fat grin on your face! That tells me that you are so seriously excited to have gotten it nailed!
Well done!!

I’m with amberpoledancer, my instructor does this for a few clubs in Johannesburg. Thinking is mainly go go dancing with some pole moves.

That is sooo cute! We had our Christmas party at the pole studio last night and our instructor had an impromptu guys lesson. Sooo funny seeing the guys trying to do spins and bodywaves! But they all said how hard it was afterwards!!

Hi EvaRut
I’m not 100% sure but when he talks about the muscles getting too tired at contracting that they release, that sounds like what’s happening when your muscles shake, they’re getting tired of contracting? I’d hold it and see if they relax…

I’m in the process of having ‘kitty’ lasered. Every 6 weeks you go and have the area lasered, hurts less than wax and once the hair has died (takes about 6 times I believe), it doesn’t grow back. Working pretty well so far, already much less hair to deal with.
