I drop from a pike into it and just try not to touch the pole on my way down, as that always shocks people a little bit who’ve never seen much pole. I’m also trying cross knee release drops…. Jamilla does one where she runs her top leg real quick over her bottom from plank and falls into cross knee release. I’ve also seen women kind of mount into cross knee release from some tweaked version of straddle, which resembles a drop. I would like more of these too.

So if twisted grip puts your wrist in a reverse position, what’s a safe way to do this? is there a "normal grip" handspring? Does someone have videos of a variation?

I have the same issue. Whether it would work or not was so iffy and after researching extensively, my answers were still pretty vague. I gave up and bought a stage pole. I’m now in line for the new platinum stages pole with a very small base as opposed to one you could actually fall off of. It sucks, but it’s the price I pay for a cheap apartment.

Yeah, this one kills me. I’ve gotten it before, once. It took about five minutes of grunting and I haven’t gotten it since. I tried Sarah Crutel’s way of getting into it from flatline scorpio, and while a reach… it was not nearly as painful as when I tried it from like what I call a Goddess spin…. hooking my inside leg and just trying to pop my outside leg up and then going into it. Flat line scorpio you’re already hooked. The way I was trying, you kinda drop into it. I pulled my calf muscle for two weeks. My back is very bendy, too. Crescent moon is very easy for me. So, I’m surprised at how much trouble this one is giving me. Definitely think the way to do it is from flatline scorpio, but yeah… it’s hard.
As for aerial shoulder mount, I find its easiest from half-mast… you do a side climb, let your body spin backwards a little into something resembling figurehead, so now one leg is kinda tucked, one leg is down with your foot holding on, and shoulder is against the pole… rearrange grip and repeat.

I watched it and decided it order it myself.. despite being disappointed that she did not come out with another just plain old instructional DVD, she does explain a lot of transitions that I feel really help me tie things together. Definitely worth it.

I think I could possibly get it with another practice session tonight if my back wasnt so damn sore….
the leaning back thing helps, perhaps I wasn’t tilted enough
Also, it’s a scary move hehe

I will say I got Bobbi’s ultimatum DVD for the doubles tricks and thank god I got it for that because that’s seriously all I can do. Maybe 2 out of all the other moves. The FIRST move is handspring to ayesha for the love of god! And it just gets harder.
Overall, fun to watch. The doubles moves were attainable. This is more for someone whose been doing pole 3-5 years though. Kind of on par with JK’s pole power DVD. Worth it, but not my favorite. Kinda pornographic looking at parts with bad camera work similar to leigh anns, haha. And they definitely did not break stuff down enough, which is my main complaint about all other DVDs Ive tried except Jamillas.

How do you feel about Fawnia’s compared to other certs, honestly? I’m unimpressed by her videos but respect her greatly as a fitness enthusiast because she’s been in figure-competition ready form for damn near a decade if not more. As a weightlifting enthusiast, I’m steering her direction. How much does she focus on things like anatomy, weight training, proper form, kinetics, etc? This is what I’m wanting most. I’m also hoping she’s improved on breaking down moves since she put out that Pole and Fire video.

Hmmm… I’ve kinda been combining some of these with my own stretches and none of them appear too radically different… we’ll see… so far I’m disappointed. This guy is wayyy out there… I would like someone more scientific to help write this.. at least put the names of the muscle groups in for christ sake…

Aw, December 20th is my birthday.. and i have to work until 4pm in Austin anyway… oh well.

I can do this one fairly easily with no pain when i just lean back enough and my arms are lowered enough.. at least chest height…
The first few times I tried to do it, it hurt my lady-parts so bad
I kept trying.. in a thong
Like all other moves, eventually horrible pain gave way to "this ain’t so bad"
It was at the same time as I was trying to learn superman which I think went through a similar process
Now I can do it in booty shorts or underwear
And like the normal wrist seat i seem to fair better if I do a little wave where I tuck my legs in before I splay them outJulie
