I saw a video of Aleatha doing that lately and have been wanting to imitate since

What I can’t figure out is how she seems to get so easily from spinning chopper to gemini to jade with the outside hand ABOVE the inside (front) leg… it seems like to do this move your front jade leg would be over your hand???

Haven’t tried it yet of course, though. Has anyone else?

I learned this one from mast. Jenyne butterfly showed me.

You have to be able to do a controlled shoulder mount with as little kick as possible
I also learned reverse shoulder mounts before aerials
I also learned mast and figurehead
If you can do that, aerial shoulder mount was very easy when I just tried it from mast (i’m sure they have a picture on wikipole or something)
I got it on the first try https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I WAS originally trying to do it from superman/figurehead. Lots harder. I got that one much later, after I got it from mast. It’s now my favorite combo though. Sometimes I fail on the second try, I can’t do it more than once a night.

yEAH… i dance on the weekend at a gentleman’s club while holding down a full time office job and a pole studio. You make maybe $5 on stage for an ayesha, if anything. I’ve often left the stage with nothing even after doing some supermans, teddy bears, etc. Once in a while you make $20 for some conversation and company. But 95% of your money comes from rubbing up mostly naked on men. It’s honestly not that bad as long as you keep your boundaries and sobriety/wits about you and are vigilant about the creeps. I waitressed for two years because I was so disgusted by the men, but I would have given anything to have stripped instead (I was still in college and it would have been a lot easier to strip to pay tuition than strip to pay interest on student loans… all after getting up at 5am all week and having a full schedule)

So, you have a choice. give in, take your top off, do some lap dances and make enough money that you’ll kick yourself for ever doing anything else. OR find an alternative to stripping that you can do with clothes on but realize you prolly won’t make more than $150 a night doing so. Burlesque or go-go. Sometimes I take a portable stage to regular concerts, this is $200 split between 3-4 people, no nudity. Far, far less than I make at an actual club, but always is fun. You could do aerial work of any kind at private parties.

let us know what you find.

Oh Shit… so I would think of it as a spinning gemini actually since gemini is my term for inside leg

Inside leg-> bat or crucifix -> inside leg

This seems now much harder as I find it much harder to stay stable with an inside leg hook

Sigh, is there an outside leg -> bat -> outsie leg version… is that possible?

Wow, I am still having a problem with this one

    Scorpio- easy
    Crucifix/Bat – easy
    Last part of it- impossible

So, it starts with an outside leg hook and ends with an inside leg hook?
My left leg is hooked both times, it’s just that on the last part of it it’s hooked inside leg hook as opposed to outside
Except on this part it’s on the "wrong " side of my body… as if I inverted with the pole to my left.. being right handed, this always feels awkward. I slip out of it quickly each time, nearly falling on my head.

    What’s the deal?

Oooooooo this was my next move I was going to try to learn… I want to do it on the pole as I still don’t have the best splits…. I’m all about shoulder mounts…. walking shoulder mounts, shoulder mount spins on a spinning pole, shoulder mount to superman, etc. etc.
Maybe this is the reason I feel like I’ve been kicked in the ribs for two weeks though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I need to take some time off.

I have a mat from poleomat in the UK. It cost $192 and isn’t very fluffy, but it was inexpensive compared to the 5" one. it gave me the confidence to do a ton of extended butterflies last night and a walking shoulder mount.

Yup that’s EXACTLY what i’m trying to do… it looks like you tilt your body to the side and "catch" yourself on your outside leg while still almost horizontal to the pole rather than some sort of straddle into it vertical to the pole. If you could break it down for me, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif i’d be much appreciated.

    Awesome link, thank you!!

Still curious if anyone is able to successfully shoulder mount into scorpio and make it look graceful, though. I’ve seen felix do it, but she does everything so damn quickly. At least Jenyne does it nice and slow so I can see exactly what she’s doing.

    I’ll check out Julie London

Here are my favorites as of late:

If I were a Boy- Beyonce
    In these shoes- Kristin McColl
    Feeling Good- Nina Simone
    After Dark- Tito and Tarantula

I’m mostly a country fan, unfortunately, there isn’t much to dance to there
John Anderson’s Don’t Ask Her on a Straight Tequlia Night works…

I can’t wait for the grippiness… especially as it reaches December! Stainless steel poles suck in September.

I have a studio in Austin TX (http://www.brassovariespoledancing.com). So I’m going to keep the extra pole at the studio for performances. Sometimes we need two poles for performances and unloading the platinum stages with the spinning attachment all in one big heavy piece sucks.. it will be nice to have two that you can disassemble.

Will review as soon as it comes in!

So I’m one of those unfortunate people with drop ceilings in an apartment

Not drop ceilings like tile ceilings, but popcornish ceilings that you would need to cut a rather large hole through to get to the wood. I think. I honestly get differing opinions from everyone, my maintenance person says I should be able to put one up, my boyfriend says no. The stud finder is all over the place and can’t seem to give a good reading. We’ve drilled small holes in it and only drywall has come out, havent hit any wood. The ceiling itself seems kinda flimsy. This has scared me out of both the XPole and LIl Mynx pole. I currently have a Platinum stages pole with a 4×4 base.. because of the size of the base, the pole is barely over 6 feet tall which makes poling not very fun. I can’t even really shoulder mount into anything smoothly b/c of it.

So I have ordered the Platninum stages freestanding pole. It is back ordered, only has a 2 inch base instead of a 1-2 foot base and doesnt require any connection to the ceiling or floor. It was super expensive, almost $600 because I ordered the skinny brass version. I paid extra because the stainless steel version IS very hard to grip. My friend Mary has an X-Pole and I feel like it’s twice as easy to perform tricks on. Stainless steel seems to sweat a lot and get cold easily.

I also ordered a pole mat from poleomat that got delivered today (yeay!) i’m going to pick it up at noon, and my new pole will not spin so i have to wait for the spinning attachment to come out in 2010.. all in all this will end up being $1,000 between pole, mat, and attachments. My bf thinks I have absolutely lost my mind. I haven’t even told him about the pole just the mat… how do you hide a new brass pole, lol…

Jenyne Butterfly taught me something that has helped sooo much with my elbow grip ayeshas- just imagine punching yourself in the chest while you are doing it.

The leg thing.. may be balance. Mine is practice good but not "performance ready" for that very reason. I am just going to try to practice it once a week (bout all the time i have for pole) and hold it as long as possible each time.
