I actually find the forward shoulder roll to be more difficult. Go figure. I know what you mean about that pose at the end (we call that a Rising Goddess here) and it would be pretty. I will work on it today and see where it gets me.

Well, that didn’t work out so well. I think I might ditch the vortex even though I do it so well or maybe do it at the beginning. Funny how these things work out so much better in our heads!

I actually thought about doing a pencil. I’m going to try a few things when I go to the studio tonight. Thanx for the suggestions.

I will try to video it today. My goal is to get to the opposite side for the vortex. I’ve tried it on the other side many times but that elbow does not see to twist into it very well.

OMG, you all are killing me with these amazing combos! Keep them coming! I’m training for my first competition in April and I’m looking for some impressive combos and transitions that I can pull off. The level I’m entered in has rules of no aerial inverts and must have three points of contact when hips are over your head. It’s sometimes challenging to combine some of these with only three points of contact.

It’s about the only thing I’ve found that doesn’t give me indigestion. My workouts are usually two 1 hour classes back to back and This usually carries me through it all.

I had to modify a routine in April due to a pulled abdominal muscle. It was four days before and there was a combo (corkscrew to butterfly to flatline to descending angel on spin pole) that I was so proud of and there was no way I could do it! But I couldn’t modify the group routine I was in later that night. Sure enough, my aerial invert to butterfly was a total fail! I was in agony and mortified but most people said they didn’t notice. So be 100% sure! Good Luck!

I’ve been looking at Indi Pole wear too and am glad to see some feedback. I will have to consider the price of shipping to the US but it’s all relative to me. I was wearing a sports bra today (paid too much) that I felt was too tight in the back and under my arms. Indi is coming out with one that is cut lower in that area so nothing pooches out and has cross straps in the back. It looks so sexy yet functional for pole. Can’t wait for Monday to check it all out!!!

I have a couple pairs of Mika yoga wear shorts but the only thing that bugs me are the side ties. They hurt a little during some floor work otherwise they are great quality and fit. My absolute favorite and what most of the ladies at my studio have switched to is http://www.zweetsport.com. Check out the Jaco Shorts! Super lightweight, feel just like boy short underwear and NO MUFFINTOP! Not ever! They just got new colors and patterns in too. I have worn them in the two showcases I’ve done and they looked and felt great. I even dressed up a red pair by adding a removable half tutu! Love them! Ha! I’m wearing a pair in my profile pic too!

I walked into a class and was frustrated that I couldn’t do a basic pole hold and the fireman spin had me all bruised up. So I went back the next day…and the next! I had gained about 25 lbs in a relatively short period of time and was determined to get it off and get in shape. I liked pilates and yoga but had never considered pole until I saw it offered at my gym included in the membership. It’s a new studio but I go every day and take every class I can, both pole and the conditioning classes offered. I’ve lost the 25lbs and I think I’m stronger than ever. Yes, I am the oldest in all my classes but only a few know that. I remember the struggle with learning to invert! But it wasn’t long before I was able to V-up and just hang there. I found out recently that some of the ladies still can’t do that after years of poling! So there are some things I can get right away (I’m pretty fearless) and there are some things I can’t and others can (I’m not as flexible as I used to be) but I have a blast every time I’m there. I’ve injured myself twice but I still went to work on other things. They hurt less when I’m hanging upside down! My instructors think I’m crazy
