Thank you for all your support – the event went over so well and really exceeded all of our expectations!
Next year, it’s going to be held in Helsinki, Finland, again. We hope that event more of you guys can join in then (this year we "only" had spectators traveling from 17 different countries!)
The results as well as a video of the winner have been published here: http://poleart.org/en/Results
…and a bunch of stunning pictures here: http://poleart.org/en/Gallery
Love love love the poster picture!!!
Out of pure curiosity, what kind of pointe shoes are those? They look gorgeous on her feet!
I want to figure out a way to combine my love of ballet with pole dancing and do a routine using my pointe shoes….but that will need to wait a little while until I get stronger on the pole.
Those shoes were Bloch. Their pointes are a nice muted pink with a low vamp, if that’s your aesthetic preference.
We found the most challenging aspect of fusing pole and pointe in practical performance (rather than simply posing for a photo) to be friction. Or the lack of it!
With a satin, suede or chrochet tipped pointe shoe the momentum you gain for a pole spin or climb is so much less than you normally would from the ball of your foot. So I’m thinking you’d either want to push of from demi pointe or glue a sticky (rubbery?) material on top of the suede.
Let me know how YOU get around the problem once you do a routine, though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif -
I was wondering if there is more information bout this competition. Me and my friend are thinking of spectating and was just curious as to where the event is held, so can plan accommodation and which airport to fly to. And when do tickets go on sale?
We have published travel and accomodation information here: http://poleart.org/en/Spectators
The closest and largest airport is Arlanda (Stockholm). But if you find good tickets to Bromma or Skavsta, those are fine too.
If you like, you could even ask around among our students on whether or not some of them want international guests and pole buddies during the stay. We have a active Swedish forum here: http://poleforum.se/
Questions and requests in English are understood by everyone https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif -
OMG I need to save up! Even tickets from Germany to Sweden can be expensive.
Have to wait until June for more info though huh? It all depends on how much place tickets are, how much the tickets to come watch are… hotels… etc etc.
I want to just go and see everyone and watch all the beauty… hmm…. *thinking thinking*The tickets will be 250 SEK which makes it approximately 25 EUR. You’ll be able to buy them online from the website startin June.

Hey guys, if you need any help with accomodation or getting around the city just let us know! Us organizers are already housing some of the judges/guests but I can give a shout out to all of my wonderful students and ask if any of them want to help a fellow poler out https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif I’m sure they’d love to…
i love it already. I probably won’t be able to go but I love how much pole dancing is becoming or is.
Thank you so much for the kind compliment!
We simply want to throw an event here up north that will do justice to the inspiring talent, creativity and hard work that we find in the community https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -
TILT your pelvis! That’s the huge difference between rockstar and say fireman.
Try to crunch your abs and point your "tail bone" to the pole.I think that if one feels restricted by flexibility in this move, the technique is off. You don’t need to be flexible at all.

on the website it say though it they pick you , or your scheduled to compete and you dont make it, unless you have a doctors note they wont let you compete in pole art for the next 2 years. so you have to be sure!
That part means that if you make it to the finals and accept the spot that your are offered and sign the registration form and everything AND THEN suddenly pull out with really short notice and for no reason… well, that’s what any serious event organizer wants to avoid. The USPDF-contestants get to sign similar forms, for instance.

Thank you! We had a sweaty but hilarious time shooting that pic and producing the poster https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

Yay, mystery solved! Me and some of my students were ogling that performance of Karol’s all bug eyed while trying to figure out *what* was actually happening…
You guys are so helpful https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -
Yes, Denielle Rueda-Watts is probably one of the best pole dancers I’ve seen! I so wish there was more material available with her on youtube or whatnot. She’s a great inspiration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp09Bkh4ZVs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Oh, I was there and it was an amazing competition! I wrote some coverage on the event here: http://polebunny.blogspot.com/2009/09/poledancetavling-i-paris-2009.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (albeit in Swedish, but at least you can look at my pics https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif )
The venue and setup was absolutely stunning and really inspired me to what I’d like the pole events that I’m involved in, in the future, to be.
The men’s category featured 4 dancers and the women’s 7 I think. The idea of dancing in ONE point shoe is just too clever… and the women’s champion really won my heart with her original and almost contemporary style. Loves! -
There was this one video of Felix practicing where she did it fairly slowly and you had a good view of what was going on. I put the video on my "must try"-list but now it’s gone. Bohohoo…
But the move is gorgeous! -
Cool,I love Tokyo! It’s probably my favorite place in the whole world https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Which of the studios do you go to?
