My kids are 7 and 4 they LOVE playing on my pole and can climb that thing better than I can LOL!  Kids relate to things on a different level, for them it has no sexual connection because in their world there is no such thing as strippers and sex, so it's a fun toy that Mommy can do all sorts of cool things like go upside down.  I leave the sexy stuff for when they are in bed and my hubby has been a good boy 😛

I always tell people there is a big difference between being a stripper and using a pole as a prop and pole dancing, while pole dancing is still sexy it's not stripping per se.  And even if someone is stripping and pole dancing why be ashamed, my philosophy is if you feel ashamed to do something then you shouldn't be doing it.

Kids relate to things what we as parents teach them about it, if we act ashamed and like it's some dirty little secret they will feel the same.  My kids know it's for exercise I also don't hide from people that I pole dance so hey don't see me hiding it.

Yay!  Iove AoP!!!  I'm on disc 3 getting ready to move on to disc 4.  If you have the basics down maybe start from there.

They really are very good, Jamilla didn't win instructor of the year of 2 (or is it 3) years running for nothing!

LOL I can't imagine feeling awkward infront of my hubby.  My pole is in the same space as his pc so he plays pc games when i'm poling and every now and then I catch him sneaking a peek *giggle* if I'm practicing a difficult or new move I ask him to spot me or take photos when I get it right hehehe

@PennyGirl – my kids love playing on my pole too LOL, I normally pole when they are asleep

I finally got it! Just like that *snaps fingers*  I noticed that my one problem was that I was standing too far away from the pole now I rest my hip against the pole in the starting position I have more control closer to the pole, such a silly simple thing!

Thanks niccig! I found a great YouTube vid that showed me resistance stretching with the balancing quad lunges and medial ham stretches. I saw some improvement. Yay! Will look into more of these

Ottersocks recommended it and I’m SO glad because I’m also Ms Inflexible https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif and I could see an immediate improvement in my flexibility after doing the stretches. I can highly recommend the DVD called Resistance Stretching with Dara Torres, they explain all the stretches in detail and have a workout you can do at the end. It’s fab!!

Hope you will post a pic of you doing the splits soon https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m a hopeless case with splits. My hip flexors are so tight, I’m beginning to think something is wrong with me. I’ve been trying for almost 4 years. Tried daily stretching for a few months and nothing. Been bikram/hot yoga 3x/week since the summer and that seems to be working somewhat. I’m deepening my lunges, stretching my hams, pulling my pigeons…. Still no splits but flexibility progress is there. Maybe in 10 years.

Try resistance stretching it really really works!!

maybe it’s my age, but i’m of the school that says don’t grab your foot to secure your knee pit grip. IMO, it puts too much stress and torque on the knee….

your lines are really pretty…. can you work towards hold the CKR with just the knee pit now that you know the position the leg has to be in ?

Holding my foot was more for my own piece of mind and to test my comfort in the position. I am working my way to not holding it and as I become more confident I will certainly let go 100% https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

And thank you for the compliment, I do take care to pay attention to my lines it’s nice that it’s noticed https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m still very much a beginner but my advise would be also to remember to warm up properly and don’t neglect your "off the pole" training. Before I touch my pole I do at least an hour of warm up/strength training/resistance stretching. I practice the same moves over and over and over again because for me it’s important to have the technique down to perfection and the move becomes second nature, it makes sense to me and it is better long term to learn the proper technique right from the start.

so if anyone has any suggestions what i can use instead of a foam roller hit me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Thanks Otter I wouldn’t have found it if i didn’t read your resistance stretching posts.

    Hi Nicci
    You’re welcome!
You can try tennis balls instead of a foam roller. It’s much more intense and localized, but they work well.
A new trick I found is, go the pet store and buy the GIANT tennis balls meant for large breed dogs. (Make sure you don’t get beef scented or with squeakers!) Those work really well and can spread out over a larger area of tissue. For outer thighs (IT bands) though, foam rollers are still tops.
    Good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

Oh cool!! I will definitely try that (and hide it away from our Labrador LOL) thanks man https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif
