I have taken miamishyner's mixed level class and a couple of others as well, and I actually like those kinds of classes as you get to work more on what you want instead of doing the same thing as everyone else. It does require you to be somewhat structured and patient as you won't always have the instructor's attention, but it's great if you know what you want to work on 🙂

But of course what's considered a mixed levels class can vary between different studios, so give them a call and ask 🙂

I loooved Holly's routine – such a badass fun routine, and not as serious as what you usually see at competitions. I've seen her do completely different routines before, and am just impressed by how she can change with the songs she dance to 🙂

The pole studio I go to just started a shared blog with the owner and some of the students (myself included). There's only two introduction posts up so far, but we should be updating regularly 🙂

You are lucky – there are tons of good studios in the Denver area, and lots and lots of girls doing pole around here!!:) I live up in Boulder, and divide my time between Boulder Spirals and Vertical Fusion (in Longmont), but I've taken classes as Tease Studio in Denver and loved it! Estee Zakar is one of the amazing teachers there, and they are moving into a huge new location in the start of March:)

Thank you Amy – that shows much more clearly what I was trying to do!:P

Chemgoddess – I love that! That's probably the one most like my normal side climb – for once my long legs actually make things easier for me, and I can get to the top of a 14ft pole in 4 climbs with my legs far apart like that 🙂

She's only dancing at the pre and post parties, not at the actual Super Bowl. Either way it's pretty cool 🙂

There!:) It's a little awkward since my pole is so short that my top hand reaches the ceiling before I even start climbing, but at least you can see the foot position. I really like this climb since the pointed front foot hides that the back foot is flexed:)

Love the one in the video you just posted! I am about to get on my pole at home here, I'll try to demonstrate the Natasha one even if I can only do like half a climb:P

My instructor said that Natasha Wang taught a side climb in her workshop that's slightly different; you start out with your outside leg in front of the pole, as if you're going into an ankle spin, then place the inside foot behind the pole. You lift both legs up together, then "stand up", and repeat. (It hurts like a b*tch the first times you try, since all the pressure is on the top of your back foot, but it does get better.) The biggest difference from a normal side climb is that you don't hook with the back of your knee at all, only between your feet.  It's hard to explain, but my pole at home is only 7'4"  and I'm 5'9", so it's hard for me to demonstrate climbs on it:P

I have been doing 2h pole/dance on Mondays, 1,5h pole on Tuesday, Wednesday off, 1h pole on Thursday, Friday off, 1h pole on Saturday, and 1h aerial yoga + 1-2 hours pole on Sunday. The only times I actually feel tired is if I miss a day – if I follow my normal routine I really just feel good about it. Thu, Sat & Sun have been the only days where I'm working hard on new tricks though, Monday and Tuesday pole is mostly choreography stuff. But I guess I can take an extra day off every now and then..:)

What's worked for me is really just to force myself to do everything on both sides. If I do a spin on right, I do it on left as well. Same goes for climbs, pull ups, and anything else. My left arm is still a little weaker, but everything I can do on right, I can do on left as well – just not for as long..:)

For slow pole songs, I love everything by Lykke Li. The music is just so .. tender .. in lack of a better word!:)

Yay Amy!:) I've been following your blog ever since I did my first google search on how to get rid of bruises from pole dancing, so I'm excited to see you featured here as well 🙂

Starting pole dancing! I have wanted to for so long, and in July I finally signed up for my first class 🙂

As for actuall tricks etc, I am most pleased with getting my regular climb after struggling for so long, then getting both my side climb and x ankle climb right away after that, as well as getting my cross knee release on my first try ever 🙂
