Thanks for the humidifier tip Veena, that's perfect for Colorado! Can't believe I haven't thought of it!:)

I'll upload the one I did as a practice, even if I was planning on changing it around a little bit after seeing what does and does not work with socks on 🙂

I keep buying punch cards at my studio. I would have loved to get the monthly unlimited pass instead, but there's just not enough classes in the evening (I work 8:30-5), so it wouldn't pay off..:)

I would recommend buying an extra extension in the right size for what you need. There are lots of extra sizes in between the ones that come with your pole, and for only $15-20ish I'd say it's worth it to not have to worry about your pole not being safe 🙂

  • The step around/girl on top/Half Spin is a great beginner spin, since it's a grounded spin. At my studio my instructor had me doing a closed Front Hook in my very first lesson, but that's definitely not an easy one, and I wish I had learned some easier spins first. Both the open and closed Fireman are good beginner spins; like emotioncatcher said it has pretty easy hand and leg placements.

I think I would have been slightly discouraged if I hadn't learned any spins at all for the first 4-5 lessons, as I love to see progress, but I guess that's a personal preference..:)

I use Dry Hands for my climbs. I had such trouble doing climbs before I started using that, because my hands got so sweaty that I just slid off, but it's much better now.

As for when to start learning the pole climb, at my studio we start prepping for climbs already in our very first lesson, and I was climbing within weeks. A different studio I have taken classes at teaches "all" the spins first, and don't start with pole climb until level 3. I personally think it's good to start early, as it's the best strength builder you can get.. 🙂

I went to my first pole class mostly to check another item off of my bucketlist, but after an hour I was completely hooked!:) Now I pole because it makes me feel both strong and feminine, and it's the first excerise I've ever actually had fun doing 🙂

Any time someone comes with one of those "That's a stripper pole", "Pole dance is just stripping" or whatever comments, I just like to throw a little "And how do you know so much about what goes on in strip clubs?" right back. Usually shuts them up;)
