I've heard of these:

Hope that helps…maybe someone here knows the instructors.

@poleprincess89 "blah blah blah I'm a sobby bitch" is now my new favorite catch phrase! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I agree that she was looking for something to make it bad, but she never came up with any real argument other than calling it a "stripper pole". I wonder if she realizes most women don't even dance for their partner on a regular basis. Mine's all technical about it anyway (totally thinks he's an expert lol!)

I love Discount Dance Supply. http://www.discountdance.com
They have really great prices and lots of sales! Plus their stuff is durable for performance. Love the unitards!

Amen to the rock climbing chalk…dries out your hands, but isn't sticky. Not like gymnastics chalk which is designed to help your hands stay dry but also rotate on the bars. Some people like that, but I'll stick to the rock climbing chalk.

Well, it sounds like this teacher was limited in her own knowledge of the building blocks for each move. Never ceases to amaze me the people that would agree a gymnast should learn to do a forward roll on the ground before doing a somersault in the air, but pole dancers, hey, sure let 'em go straight to a twisted grip lift their first week.
Go with your gut, Anonny. You obviously weren't comfortable there…maybe they have another student or two who might want to take a road trip with you or practice the Veena lessons together.

Ok, here's some (a few are more for comedy's sake):
Cushie Butterfield by Sting
More by Madonna (very Broadway feel from the Dick Tracy soundtrack)
Gold Digger by Kanye (or maybe there's a cover of this that's burlesque style?)
Gold Dust Woman by Fleetwood Mac (lots of covers of this one, too)
Lust by Bas Sheva

I agree with Nymphdancer, & also I don't mind an instructor showing the next level move that your current one will lead to because that gives me some idea that I'm progressing. For example, my aerial instructor says, if you want to do *this*, then let's first work on *this*. It also helps me understand which muscles & skills are needed. But to just show off…ugh. I had that instructor already. She actually would lean on a pole and talk so you couldn't even touch it to practice. I left her when I was hanging by one leg, no hands for the first time, and she was too busy talking (usually something bad about another teacher/studio) to notice or care.

I think what you call a rainbow is what I call an outer stag (or outside double attitude), but I don't know what the Madonna is…anyone?

Remini is quoted defending Scientology by saying this:
"If somebody is going to get turned off about something because of what they read or heard, then that person's not smart enough to even enter a church. If you're really against something, then know what you're against."
Doesn't that last part apply to Pole Dance, too? She doesn't even know that most of us don't call it a "stripper pole", so she doesn't know what she's against. Which is kind of important if you are going to judge us!

Ok, now I get your screen name! (I should have figured that out!) Since the comment is gone, I don't know what they were referring to, but I saw nothing wrong with that video. No suckage at all…only blissful bootiness. They probably have a flat butt and are jealous. Anyway, you are clearly not a beginner, but can you imagine if comments like that make a pro question themself, what would it do to a beginner? xoxo

Ditto on the Push/Pull here. If you are trying to get a spin out of it, it also helps to place your foot a bit farther away from the pole and drop the bottom hand a bit lower. Then just "fall" or glide into the spin without jumping or pushing off too hard with the other foot. When your hands are placed correctly and the top hand is pulling out (not down) on the pole with the bottom pushing into the pole (again–not down) you will feel your back & core engage. You'll know you've hit the sweet spot.

I agree LizzyLiz….the ones I've seen don't have much instruction, or the instruction isn't really more than telling you hand placement. I've been in some workshops with some famous polers that couldn't teach, too. It's frustrating, but Veena will make it all better!
For all the other (non-Veena) video makers out there, I'd like to see someone who can really explain the training for and the performance of a move. For example: on the TG lift, people give parts of it (push your chest forward, bend the lower arm), but not give the training for it such as spins that help build the strength, warm ups for the wrist and shoulder, the technical breakdown of the physics.

Woot Woot for Azzwoo! Way to represent polers in such a wonderful way!

Yes, mine was on stationary when it slipped, too. But it was the top extension, so since I'm not tall enough to spin that high, I'm still perplexed. Plus, I had a guy tighten it (back and forth the way I was told by the lady at X-Pole), so it was super tight and still slipped. Very frustrating.

I'm about to try the broomstick tomorrow on mine (already had to unstick the pre-inserted one with the handle of a hammer…took for-freaking-ever). Maybe there is someone at X-Pole who needs to read this (and the "X-Pole is Peeling") thread??
