I should’ve looked up this thread before I started the one titled Instagram Bandwagon, lol. I need app suggestions for editing iPhone videos, adding music, and putting clips in a photo/video collage, any favorites?

    See you guys on IG!

I have more questions because I haven’t done much with the videos on my phone that I’d like to share…

What do you think is the best photo and video collage app? Can you edit videos, play music, and add in text?

Thanks for all the feedback, y’all! I’m DanceCookPlay_MEA as you may all soon find me among your newest fans 😉 You ladies are awesome, and PoleDanceNation has some spectacular photos!

CrazyKosters, you bring up a good point about the pics… But an even more frightening truth is anything posted on the internet never completely disappears– because things are retrievable, and anything that connects to the internet can get hacked and threaten anything that resides in the memory of your computer. Even that camera on your smartphone can be accessed and some creep could be watching from some sketchy hideaway. Sorry to freak everyone out, but its a scary world!

Anyway, I’ve learned so far from IG that it combines aspects of Pinterest and Facebook so its not as foreign as I thought it would be. Lucca, I’m excited to see what talent lies within this maze of follower wormholes! And its really nice that there are videos of different individuals doing their pole moves. For me to wrap my head around a trick, I need to see it performed more than I need it verbally explained to me. But Veena, you’re video breakdowns are probably the best way to learn at home!

OMG why didn’t I see this post while I was at the Expo last week? We talked it UP and I’m sure we recruited many fans!

Corn Huskers Lotion or Pole, in place of regular body lotion on pole days, in combination with Dry Hands works best for me thus far.

I’ve asked the same question before and I was advised to look up Xpole, Lil’ Minx, Platinum Stages and Aurelian Sports. Affordability was a huge factor for me also, especially considering the outrageous shipping costs in Alaska, but one must also consider quality/safety of this piece of equipment and reputability of the site you are purchasing from relating to price (beware of knock-offs). My instructor has told me that the cheapest poles have become very expensive for some that end up on youtube fails or getting injured somehow, unfortunately. I saved up and chose an Xpole Xpert 45mm chrome and besides the financial squeeze, it was the best all-around for my use at home.
    Hope this helps 🙂

Hey y’all, tomorrow is the last day of this AMAZING EXPO EXPERIENCE. I have nothing really planned after 2:00 tomorrow, and I’d like another chance for us to all meet up. Anyone down to do a Studio Veena pole jam session together in the Aerial Playground? Let’s do it!

Thanks for saving me a pin, Princess Buttercup!

I will be late to lunch on Friday because I’ll be in the intro to silks workshop starting at 1:15, but I’d love to meet up if y’all don’t mind! The only other workshop I registered for is spinny for beginners on Sunday at 10:30.

Can’t sleep, super excited, first Expo, barely 5 months into pole, and I’m so happy to be a part of a beautiful dance community!!! Just a few questions, when meeting up, will we all introduce ourselves with our SV alter-ego names and then transition onto first-name basis? Should we change our profile pictures here to headshots so we can look for each others faces? I’m thrilled, is it obvious?

To strengthen your knee grip you can do side crunches with one foot on the ground and a knee grip on the pole with the opposite leg. Another exercise is a forward spin called the ‘hook and roll.’ (I’m not sure any other name its known by, sorry!) A few reps on each side, possible bruising and and newfound coordination will get you there 🙂

I just bought a full membership this past week! I had to find a way around our limited internet package at home, so I too just play videos off of my phone that has an unlimited data plan… Connected to our tv! My husband bought an hdmi cable and an extension that connects to my iPhone, and VOILA! Lessons on the big screen 🙂

Webby & Veena, I would like to know if there’s a setting where you can select several videos to play one after the other. As it is, my workouts are stop and go because once I finish one video I have go go back to the menu, scroll through the list from the top, select the next one I want to do, wait for it to load, learn that move, and repeat. I’ve been training since April so I’m mostly reviewing and polishing moves I’ve already learned in class, but your instructional videos are so concise that I can probably learn pretty quickly with moves I’ve not yet done.

For the first time, I experienced moderate symptoms of overtraining last week. I think it was a combination of an imbalanced diet and not enough recovery time. I used to do 1-3 bosu, body blaster and Zumba classes during the week and pole hard on Saturdays and occasional outdoor activities like bike riding and hiking. I am now revising my workout regimen to include at least 2 days of rest as I plan on incorporating more weight-bearing activities and yoga. Also, I’m making extra efforts to make sure my diet is both well-balanced and well-varied and fits my activity level (i.e. Increasing complex carbohydrates and complete proteins.)
By divine intervention I was gifted the perfect book recently. It is written by my pole instructor, Bethany Freel: “Vertical Athlete ‘Fundamentals of Training for Pole Fitness and Dance'”

    Great job learning the invert!
I’m right up there with you, needing ideas on where to go from there. Also, does anyone have any suggestions on graceful dismounts/ getting your feet on the ground from an invert besides sliding (so painful)? I’m not the most flexible person either so its been challenging just trying to find a graceful way down.

    Hey fellow Alaskan!
Sorry about your delayed delivery! I ordered my chrome 45mm xpert pole directly through xpole in April, paid for FedEx expedited shipping (it was just a few dollars difference since the S&H pricing to Ak was crazy to begin with), waited through their back order period and received mine in less than 3 weeks.

I would keep trying to contact the company/ distributor. Did you opt for ground shipping? Do you have a tracking number for your package? Good luck!

Thanks for all the tips, ladies!!

Goddess KK: Alaska is really a special place to live. One of my coworkers was making a purchase over the phone years ago and the customer service agent had to confirm whether or not she was going to pay with US Dollars! (No, BUTTONS, really?! Haha) Are you planning on getting a dance pole? I’m deciding between the Lil Mynx Rotator or an X-Pole X-pert in a 45mm width.

Johnssdeere: My dad lives in Cali, and he is always as helpful as can be… But I can’t get over how awkward the conversation will go. I fear I may get stuck defending the fitness aspect of my order and reassuring him that I’m not changing careers. (I come from a very conservative/old school Asian family.) I do have a friend who’s traveling to Seattle next month though and she offered to hand-deliver my pole back home. It’s too big for a carry-on, but would you think I can trust the airlines to handle this package with care if she checked it in?

WebJunk: People have cautioned us on knock-off poles from sites like Amazon and Ebay. My only purchases with these sights have been text books, cell phone cases and wedding novelties. How do I know what I order is the real deal?

Sassylina: Your $45 shipping charge gives me hope! Our states are always listed in the fine-print exclusions right? How long did it take for you to receive your pole after you placed your order? Does it arrive in one piece? Can you disassemble it when you move?
