As Human being in this world in order for me to survive I had to admit my failures. As human being first with same sex attraction, I had to fail at being the son my father and mother wanted me to be, the grandson, nephew, friend, and associate. All of these truths were liberating me. I faced my quote on quote "blackness'', just as everyone else has to face their own color, race, religion, and so on, but I realized midway through is that I am my own and I refuse to carry on the struggle, the reason, or rules preset for me to dictate how universal I can be with everyone else. I was taught to consider myself a descendent of a slave, a bi product of life I never knew with people I never known. All I can do is live my one life and try to remember it in the next. If we keep the woes up than no one will ever no the real freedom we are supposed to feel on this planet. Look how interactive the world is now that we all have become better in our crafts at pole dance and fitness. I see people on street signs, trees, poles, and people now thats freedom to me. I wish you  the best in dealing with the racial anxieties but my best advice is the be the only one you! As for me im not anyone's ideal of what black should be but the best at who I want to be.

The hardest part for me was curtain time. the initial few seconds rite before I go on my anxiety would go crazy. I use breathing techniques to keep me level and while I put on my show I made sure not to detach from my performance and be all in my head trying to count steps and moves. Connection is the key and as long as you can connect with a few people where you feel less awkward you will be fine.

I have flat feets as well, I have had problems with certain flooring  Certain types just give me an instant foot cramp. I wear socks to help with the spins and try to stay on my tip toes. I am looking into more  natural products to use for foot heath.

^_^ It's a battle but the Short shorts are going to win in the end. I tried to get around it with different lengths but I lost. With long shorts I found it to cumbersome adjusting them between moves. Rolling them up from the bottom didnt allow me to get a proper grip in the thigh. Rolling from the top down, though it works, looks really funky. An alternative is to cut a pair of pants into the length that he wants using some scissors. As Stoney suggested gym shorts are cool too, and u can sew a seem down the sides to hike them up.There is a thread available where i seen the technique for that. At home I wear boxer breifs but when im out i usually where jeans to shorts I made.

I have to agree with you Phedre, I went into the challenge with an ugggh how am I gonna do this attitude. I only heard one dubstep track prior to the challenge. so song selection  process was like finding a needle in hay stack! But!! I found that needle then everything  changed afterwards.

I have a mirror in my poling room but i really don't rely on it. I let the feeling be my eyes and guide. When I know im in the right position that lighter than air let go feeling gives me that Q to relax all expressions and its almost like I can see myself

I also have used a hard back book inbetween the the pole and ceiling… crazy but it worked for a while the book absorbed alot of the pressure! Have fun you will obtain cat like reflexs after landing on your back a couple times… Me and my friend both use this brand.. If remember correctly though Studs are set either 16 or 24 inches apart on popcorn ceilings. so just go from the edge of the wall then 16 to 24 inches out and woolah you have your stud..

I have a peek a boo palace pole *pink* and a popcorn ceiling!!! Yes I must have admit I have crashed and burned lmao even in the friday chat!  You will definitely have to bolt it in place to do more advanced transtions.. Unbolted you can get a way with learning some hardcore holds but I will advise No spins X_X.  I pole practice in a carpeted room which made  a proper grip dificult to obtain at first, but the trick is to put a piece of cardboard underneeth the pole and it will just spin till its good and tight! This method you will allow you the a steady grip between floor and ceiling where you can practice batwing, butterfly, knee holds, and more. Though some might feel its risky to do it like this you consciously teach yourself how to lift yourself without exerting so much force. if you have trouble finding a stud just rub a little popcorn off… if the pole hasn't already done it for you <3

My recent fall was not scary but i did face palm the floor no crash mat. I was attempting to do the marley but was to into what i was doing and forgot to dry myself and the pole off, so when i got into position and let go of the pole a little to adjust my legs down i came.

My funny fall was in Friday's Chat session with fellow veenians! I had cut cam on and was feeling it but my pole showed me who was the boss and came crashing down. The faces in the room were like (@_@) (o.O) (O_O) (O.o) (*.*) (*_*) with a roaring sound of OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH  are you alright!!!  I had to use my professional play it off skills like nothing happen 😀
