Repetitive movements cause tennis elbow form overuse  of the forearm extensor muscles form moves moves like handsprings and twisted grips. I dont know any treatments for it other than RICE until it is healed, then strengthening the muscles of the forearm before going back to those moves. Is it posible that you may have been hyperextending your elbow in those moves as well? That could also contribute. Once you heal, just try not to repeat these moves over and over-but limit yourself to just a few a day. Hope you heal fast and stay that way!! – Defnitely stay away form those moves until you are healed or it wil just get worse and really put a damper on your pole life!

You should probably go see your doctor and let someone have a look at it. It may not be a muscle at all, but a tendon. Tendons take much longer to heal and may be why you are reexperiencing the pain after a few months of healing. They generally take about  1 1/2 years to heal completely. Keep us updated and I hope you feel better soon and that it is just the muscle!

You can try if you are too dry, that works good!

Sometimes I wrap my feet w electrical tape- not because they are dry, but tender. I use it if I am going to be doing a lot of climbs and I seem to get good stick from it as a nice side effect..

Good luck!! You will get it. 🙂

When I was looking for contortion streching instruction, I first found sapphirecatzeye  on you tube too! I fel your desire as well- I really want to be able to get into some of these beautiful poses!! You may also want to look into the Valentino Brothers backbend download- they do all of those stretches in their dvd. I cannot do them yet either- but I am using a long sock to stretch with the move in the directionof those ones. I love them and have seen a tremendous increase in my flexibility. They dont give instruction on how to modify the poses, but I found the sock works great and allows me to stretch for those contortion poses safely without over doing it. only problem I have run into is that I have an old shoulder injury- I broke it in the 8th grade and I have discovered some real stiffness there. I am modifying to compensate. Curious if anyone has suggestions for that area- it is preventing me from really pushing into my backbend through that shoulder and doesnt feel anything like a muscle stiffness. Just taking it slow and trying to be consistent w it. My left arm can extend straight up, but feels like a barrier when I try to arch back- right arm has full mobility. I havent even thought of this injury until moving into these stretches and discovered it is there still!

I have a question e backbends I though I would attach to this thread-

I have beenworking really hard on back flexibility and have gotten my back bend back  about a mo ago. I notice a problem though.. I broke my shoulder when I was in the 8th grade. When I am in backbend I can feel a stiffness in that are that is preventing me from extending my left arm all the way. My shoulders are strong and I am flexible- it feels more like the bone? My arm doesnt want to extend straight- also is causing my writs in that position to tilt slightly out. WHen I correct it- I feell the stiffness in the bone. Do you think it is possible the bone healed slightly crooked? It sure desnt feel like a muscle.. ANy suggestions on what I cando to help this area? Interestingly, I dont feel it when I am in a shoulderstand, feels ok there. JUst when my arm is extended staright up, then arched back. My back feels fine

I alos notice when doing a sretch for back on pole- laying onstomach and lift upper body to grip pole behind- I can grip and reach w my right arm easily- but again- left cant go and not a muscle tightness feeling- feels like a physical barrier

It is not excrucuating pain so I am jsut repeating my backbend stretches and bit by bit tryng to hold a few seconds longer and inch the position in correctly

The support here is amazing. I get up way too early myself- I find the afternoon works better for me. SInce the time changed, Ive been getting up at 4am!

I wish he (hubby) understood, but he just isnt getting it! I think my best bet is gonna be after we are done w school and kick them out to play w implicit instructions of no interupting unless they are on fire!  They really are always here…

@marie- funny you mention more socially accetable options- that is what Ive been trying to incorportate- made hoops for all my kids etc.. stuff I can do w them. I am even taking gymnastics and aerial training w all my kids from a retired curcus performer now. Trying to sneak whatever I can do in as appropriate.

Now hes not even open to lyra, or aerial yoga- getting ridiculous! Im buying msefly aerial yoga hammock for X mas regardless

That still leaves out my inner EC… Gonna have to carve time alone or I will never find her!

  • I had forgotten about this post!

I just installed a mirror myself and  Ihave to say- it was empowering! I asked my hubby to do it and after three days it wasstill leaning against the wall. SO while he was out, I took his tools and did it myslef! I used drywall anchors- the mirror actually had holes in it where the screws go so I sisnt use a Jmold, I just used washers on top. Everything seems secure, level and in place!

I also have vertigo- When it is severe ,I take antivert. 🙂

    Congrats ion your pole room!

I do have the book, the DVD's and I did fly to Ca about 5 years ago for privates and a few classes. (Im in Fl) I loved the class room and the teachers guidance when I was there. I had a blast in person and really got into it. I havent really found it within myself once I got home though. I think I need to take the time to be alone and follow your suggetions… I ususally just pop the DVD back in- and my kids are always interuppting which makes it hard. My hubby doesnt even want them witnessing tricks let alone my inner EC! lol- not funny- Thats what I need though, alone time! Is so hard becasue I homeschool and they are pretty much always here. Even if I lock the door- someone knocks!

I totally sympathize w you @bambielove! My hubby doesnt get it either. I also refuse to give it up. Drives me crazy- if I hear him pull up, I stop and take my pole down. Somehow he thinks our daugters will tink that stripping is OK and if things get tight will strip! All becasue I pole..

I advertise for emplyment all the time on Craigslist. It is my #1 choice anymore.

Persoanlly if someone just emails me back their phone # and says call me- I wont.

I use Craigslist and the online convenience to read through resumes before I invite them for an interview. I wouldnt be offended if someone were to block out their address for safety reasons- but I definitely need their resume and work history, before I will waste my time contacting them to meet in erson for interview. I want to know that they are qualified for the position I am offereing.

I also like Craigslist because I can choose to have my email annonymous- I also DONT post my business name or address upfront. I email them that info once I make the decision to go on the next level to set up an interview. Otherwise, my busineeses are swamped w unqualified applicants stopping in or calling and wasting my time.

If you want a businees owner to notice you- you HAVE to give them some info to make a decision on and spark their interest in you. I know for me, Just an email and phone # gets deleted. I understand privacy and safety- but if someone refuses to send me a resume- they dont get hired! I have had people offer to bring by in person- but by then, I have ususally already found a qualified candidate who was wiling to share.

Just my 2 cents as a businees owner! I dont have time to persue them. They have to supply me w the info or I just move on! So I would give as much info as possible while still protecting yoruself.  I dont think someone would be offended if you disclosed your true identity nce you have sparked some interest in your potential employer.
