@ Amy – Just so you know- I had been trying unsuccessfully at elbow grip Aysha as well- until I read your blog! I am soo othankful to you because it just wasnt clicking before!
Your common mistakes hit it on the nail for me. I had my daughter read them to me as I tried and made the corrections – grip close to my knee, round my back…and just like that had the eg ayesha! So, THANK YOU!!!
Before it had seemed like a way off dream!

I just got to take my first lesson yesterday from a retired circus performer.
He had me start my first lesson on what he called- "webs" to assess my strength and hand grip before moving to the fabric. I had never seen a web before! Was quite interesting!

I struggle w this topic as well. In high school, I had beautiful skin and was really proud of it and wore hardly any make up. Now, as an adult I have adult acne. It is driving me nuts! Ive been treated by my gyno- w everything including a dee fractional laser. It is improved but still will break out monthly although not as severe. . Having experienced all this, I dont feel comfortable w out any make up anymore. My hubby loves the natural look and is always enouraging me to go w out, but I cant find the confidence anymore! I also had a lot of issues w my skin being ultra sensitive. I now use my doctor recommended makeup, Jane Iredale, mineral maeup. I do use it sparingly and go for a natural look w their minerals. My doctor ENCOURAGES me to use it and says that it actually protects the skin from bacteria and additional acne breakouts. She hs me wash my face then at least put a layer of a foundation on for protection. Otherwise she says the skin is exosed and ready to rrecieve bacteria- which will produce more acne. Here is a link to this mineral makeup:http://janeiredale.com/whymin.html
I am definitely not a chemist, just staing what my doctor tells me, on their page it also states
*composed of inert minerals that cannot support bacteria.
Curious to know how this is ested and if that is true or not as this is the chorus my Dr sings!

Best of wishes to you! I dont know if you're looking for another teaching job or not. If so, the right opportunity will open up and Im sure it will be a much better fit from the sounds of it! If you're taking a break, enjoy and focus on you! Sorry to hear they couldnt let you exit gracefully. Their loss! The students will be left wondering why instead of ending on a good note w a party for goodbye! I own a business and Im always thinking of my clients when someone leaves as it effects them the most! Again best wishes to a future of possibilities!

I found that to be a lot- also I need to be really warm before doing her DVD since she goes into the splits soo fast- you dont really get properly stretched out before hand.
Although I use hers and really like them, I make sure I am really warmed up ahead and ready to go into full out streching!0 and like other stated use the foam roller!
I also dont do hers 5 times a week, but alternate w others that I love- including Veena's.
find variety works a lot better as well as giving my muscles time to rest inbetween. I like how the VB DVD's strecth different parts, so I can do front splits one day, but work on back bends the next and give my legs time to recover. 🙂

I was finding I could do all the hand grips at home and all the leg grips at the studio. Just now getting them evened up! I was surprised what a difference the 50 made on my legs! I could hardly leg hang at home and in the studio was doing holly drop! lol. Glad I learned on both though. Helped me get some moves in both directions earlier than I would have w just 1 size.

I am soooo excited! I took my kids to gymanastics and talking w the teacher afterwards- i discovered he is a retired circus performer and does privates from his house. He has silks, lyra and trapeze equipment, as well as all the tumbling stuff. My kids and I are going over next week to have a look and see about a group lesson. Even my oldest daughter who has diabetes (shes been very sick lately) and problems w both of her wrists is going to do some therapy there with juggling. Big happy smiling family! Then I can decide if I want toinvest in silks at home and lessons.

I LOVE Aveeno oatmeal!
For equipment I have to second or third the chin up / pull up bar-
But my by far absolute favorite for home is the TRX- you can hang it on a door frame-
You can literally do your entire body and make it quite challenging using your body weight and all of your stabilization muscles. You can take the yoga plow position to new levels as well as advanced stretching. I wouldnt part w it for the world!
