Im taking the GFI right now. thanks Veena for the coloringbook tip- I am also very visual- but at the same time- a very kinesthetic learner- having a buddy and marker s may work good for me too- I love the flash cards that came w the set too. Im one those epole peeps who get in trouble- I watch a move- cant get in my head and have to jump on and move through the whole thing to figure it out. Gotta feel it. What are you dooing your cont ed onVeena? Ijust did 30 hours for my RN license- all on dementia so nothing that will help me here! lol
@chumchkin- Im already an RN so Im familiar w a lot of the concepts- but I still think you would do fine w diligent application. I had no background when I enetered nursing school- It was fast paced and I absorbed the info. You have a year w tyhis curriculum so you can break it down at your own pace. I just got anemail from ace and they said ch 1 which is a lot of anatomy- to break the sections into weeks and move on to the next chapter- not to get stuck there- so one week focus on leg muscles, next review leg and add back, etc.. till you eventually have it all.
@Lindalu- congrats! You did both- good for you!! Thanks for the tips. I havent started the manual as of yet- interesting about the music- Thanks for the tips. I was a cardiac nurse so the heart I love, thank God! Anatomy is coming back- Worked for neurosurgeons so I was pretty good at brain and back and nerve paths but need ot brush up on the rest.
guess i was just surprised in general how much real info is in here- I have much more respect for ace certified trainers having seen the course material.
@Tarah- my cousin went through the massage therapy training- she had a tough time w all the anatomy but in the end passed. I was her "model" for a school a lot.. poor me. haha
Oh- and good luch Holly!! Ill probably be done when you start so if you need any help- Ill be here!!

I love that Emotioncatcher- I love that you show all the prep excercises as well- welll done!
Have you ever thought of teaching via skype?

Thnaks- It looks that way- so frustrated! No matter what I do it redirects me to win7 antispywear..
-
Im soo frustarted! i updated my norton and restarted my computer – and keep s blocking me on IE anyway- It says win7 antispyware, even if I click to get rid of it, it comes right back… Shouldnt my norton have protected me? I so confused! It wants me to purchase protection and remove the Infection- when I have protection w norton. but Im wondering if this warning is a virus- not sure what to do! Think Im gonna change computers till I hear back form you!

I guess by all tye different results you see- its pretty individualized! Coated or not coated- my TG pole has the finish worn down, looks odd and its slippery for me!! I love the brass at my studio. It works fo rme. I guess everyone has their preference- It would probably be helpful if you go tot try them out before you decided. I think you made a good choice though. 🙂

My TG xpole is slippery and the coating has worn off to the chrome! I would def get brass if I had to do it over again

You can get a raccontrap at a tractor supply, bait it and stick it up there and he will clomb right in and you can realease him unharmed.. I got one for my so for X mas- cost $30 bucks- Probably way cheaper than calling someone in to remove him!

I love Aletheas- like corbyOconnor said though- be careful w the ballistic stretches in hers- they are containdicated, otherwise I really enjoy them. I dont have Felix's – looking into those myself as well. There are production errors in Aletheas as she also pointed out- sometimes youre holding a pose where you can watch the screen at the same time and she changes position w out cueing- but after you do it a few times and become familiar w it, you can figure it out! The music I like, but the fading in and out I found very distracting. I follow along now w out the sound and catch up on some shows while I do it- or listen to my own music. I wasnt previously aware the ballistic stretches were dangerous and I did along w her- I found them to be starinful and I wish there had been a warning becasue I followed along trusting- Now I know better and modify! ALl in all, I enjoy her video (s) Just be careful and listen to your body! They are very advanced!

MemberJanuary 9, 2012 at 4:19 am in reply to: Everyone’s talking about get flexy but..@Tarah- I have both Aletheas videos and the Valetino Brothers- Although I REALLY enjoy both- I have since learned the best thing you can do is to educate yoruself on proper form and safety. That way you wont be lead astray by any videos / advice out there!
I love both of them, but now that I have been studying more I have to say that Aletheas has ballistic stretches in her DVD which involves taking the stretch too far by swinging or dropping into the poses with momentum which then casues a non voluntary reflx that casues the muscle to actually contract- I had no idea previously and blindly followed along. (now I skip that part)
I also ordered the Valentino Brothers series- I was really impressed with their flexibility as well-AGain- to protect yourself you need to be educated on what is safe and contraindicate. I previously was unaware- They have lots of unsafe knee positionsin it- I was not previosuly aware of that. Now that I know better- I can modify those portions. There are so many though its hard to even follow along safely- But- they dont tell you if something is unsafe or how to modify any of the moves. Also they are doing flexibility traiing daily-which is also not safe
I want maximum benefits from my stretchinig- but I dont want to be injured! I have a previous knee injury I need ot be careful w and I pulled a hamstring a long time ago- which arises every now and then. Im also 38 and cant afford any new injuries.
I just registered to get my ACE certification. In the past I blindly followed what appeared to be a good thing. I still think bits and portions are- Ijust modfify now for what I now know better to be safe! I thought I was headed in the wrong direction and was embarassed to find out I was not. Thats why I want to get my own certs- to obtain my own personal knowledge for me!
One last thing- with everything that I have learned- Veena has NEVER recommended doing anything that is unsafe and always explains modifications and safety precautions- and was quick to point out to me when something was unsafe which I am appreciative.
For the avaerage person, I would make sure whoever you are listening and getting advice from to make sure they are ace certified (like Veena) then you will be assured the advice they give will be sound! I blindly followed "leaders" in the industry becasue I wanted to be like them and just trusted that what they were telling me was sound advice. I feel lucky I havent injured myself!

I stained my concrete floors downstairs. It turned out VERY nice! LOVE LOVE it. You can buy concrete paint- or stain. The staining looks more natural and fills nice patterns into cracks, etc.. Then you seal it w an epoxy. They can help you at any home improvemenst store. It took me a couple days to do the whole thing but it is gorgeous. I get compliments on it all the time!
