I’m not sure how long you have been poking for but it took me around 9 months plus to invert into chopper correctly, I’m sure it’s just a strength issue some get it quicker than others, it will come just keep practicing, also tip your head right back looking behind you.

I’m almost 53, I only pole at home, I did feel out of place in the studio, these were my own feelings though I now know that the young ones love us oldies. We inspire them 🙂

Her private Facebook is still there (Lorraine Phillips), perhaps you could message her from there.

Hi Lyme, I am so sad to hear that you are going through this, as much as we understand that our parents will go at sometime, nothing prepares for the onslaught of grief and loss, I have only just come out of a very black hole I was in for 8 months, which came on after losing mum so suddenly then dad. i am thinking of you and do wish I could be there in person to give you a hug.xxxx

I had 2 crushed vertebra in my lower spine from motor vehicle accident in 1984, over the years I have had endless back issues, aches, pains, since starting pole 4 years ago( I was very afraid of my back) it has never been better, I hardly get back pain, if I do it’s usually a slight strained muscle from overdoing it or I’m coming down with a virus, I’m so glad I took up pole and strengthened my core, I will never be able to bend much, but I am grateful for what I can do and so happy I don’t suffer from the pain I used to, I’m afraid that when I can no longer pole my back issues will start again. Strengthen core one of the most important things we can do for ourselves to protect our back.

I have had the lessons 2 times over the past 4 years so 2 years worth, the lessons are excellent value for money, I will renew again after I recover from thyroidectomy in October , as having a few months off pole will mean going back to basics.I really appreciate the site, and the time and effort put in to maintain it by webmaster and Veena, I feel I owe it to give back by purchasing the lessons. Too many people expect to get everything for free and do not give a thought to what costs are involved in providing such a great site, I paid $200 for 12 months lessons on another site that promised new routines for various pole eg sexy glow, inversion, pole strength, warm up every fortnight ,I did not get what I paid for and months went between any new routine being put up. I won’t fall for that again. Thank you Veena and webmaster for all you do.

Hmmm some interesting opinions in this thread, I have a variety of videos and clips come through my FB news feed, i am in awe at watching both professionals and beginners in their journey,I Regularly put both short clips and longer clips of both, dare i say my attempts at dance and also new tricks and combos that i try, NOI do not do this for attention i couldn’t care how many likes or dislikes i get, i couldn’t care what anyone else think about it, all i know is that if their is just one person who sees what I can do and it inspires them to live a healthier life or to see that anything is possible no matter why your age or life situation then what i put up has done its job, if not then so be it. and of course we ALL like to get compliments if some one puts a nice comment up then that naturally makes us feel good too and there is nothing wrong with that. If I get a rude comment then Blaa who cares.. Of course there are a lot of people who put videos up because they NEED to be watched liked and commented on i have no judgement of people on social media each to their own, each has their own story in life to tell if they need attention well thats ok, if they need to air their dirty laundry thats ok too, I do get a bit sick and tired of those who stand in judgement of these people. Each to their own in this life, I do love instagram by the way, a fantastic way to learn new short combos or moves. I do love to watch full length dance videos as well and Veena i love when you do a full length video they are few and far between now days, I also am surprised by just how many people in the pole community especially in Australia do not know of studioveena, i talk about it like everyone knows and when they stare at me blankly I’m like Oh haven’t you heard of Studio Veena?? I thought everyone has LOL.

I think most go for a 45mm now, in Australia most poles in the studios are 38mm.

I started at 48 I am 2 months off 52, last weekend I was the only Nanna playing in the playground with my 3 grandchildren hanging upside down , and swinging on the monkey bars, it has been a tough journey but one I am very grateful to have taken, menopause has slowed me down somewhat with more aches and pains, less motivation and fatigue but I still persist the benefits far outweigh the cons, I work within my body’s physical limitations, if I get injured it will take much longer to heal, so I am careful, fear holds me back somewhat but focusing on what my strengths are is how I deal with these issues. Best thing I have ever done for myself!:-)

Yes i have a flat bum, no fat on it at all and i really have to be careful with my tail bone, i have always had problems with sit ups and sitting for long period, i need to use a cushion under my butt and doing laybacks i do need to really squeeze the glutes but it only helps a little, it is just the way my anatomy is unfortunately. So I concentrate on the moves I can do without risk of injury.:)
