same here. i had my A & B poles stuck together for quite some time and tried everything…frozen peas, shock method, pole up, pole down on the floor, etc.

finally was only able to get them apart when i recruited 2 huge football player friends to come over and help out. with the pole standing up and using the c-shaped release tools, they were only able to get them apart after almost 20 minutes of trying and with BRUTE strength. talkin about 2 huge dudes getting red in the face and sweating and grunting!

i have NO idea how I even got them screwed together so tight to begin with. i now only hand tighten the bottom sections of the pole and do not bother to tighten the individual sections after I secure the ceiling dome, even though that’s what is shown in the instructional video.

I read on another forum topic somewhere that using WD-40 on the xpole is great for CLEANING, but not lubricating the pole. for some reason, over time the WD-40 solidifies or gets gunky and makes the poles difficult to take apart. or at least that’s what I read. I have a feeling that was what contributed to my poles getting stuck together…a combination of the WD-40 and maybe a bit of dirt or dust that might have gotten stuck in the threads that eventually messed things up.

I now spray on WD-40 and wipe off lightly with a towel and then put a huge glob of vaseline before I screw the pole together….works like a charm. doesn’t solidify or change even in different temperatures. i haven’t had any problems since then.

😛 well, at least you screwed up in front of someone that loves you and not a crowd of strangers…
I like the apple idea- reminds me of "castaway" and that volleyball named Wilson. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I was on stage and got on the ground to do a hand stand and as I was going down, I banged my head on the pole…

and another time while on stage, I was doing a chopper and I was just SOOOO exhausted after working all day, my muscles simply failed and instead of gracefully coming out of it, I slid down the pole and clumsily landed on my butt cheek/hip. (which is better than landing on the tailbone, so I’m grateful for that) My shoes made the loudest thud on the stage too, so whoever happened to not be paying attention certainly did at that point. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I just laugh those situations off… you gotta be able to laugh at your screw ups!

Chopper thing has happened to me too…a combination of tiredness and a little drop of sweat on the pole sent me sliding down quick. I didn’t even realize what was happening until my upper back hit the floor. ouch. Luckily, only the dogs were watching…

echoing the above posters…i completely agree. why would you try something you know you are not strong enough to do? even with a spotter, i probably wouldn’t attempt it until i am at least strongly confident i cant execute it without busting my head open https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

i had one in college…i’d advise against it. it wasnt the pain or anything (which wasnt too bad…swollen tongue and yogurt for a few days basically), it was the wear and tear on the teeth i was more concerned about. the occasional biting down on a metal ball is definitely not good for your teeth. even absent mindedly running your tongue over your teeth can do real damage over time. also, i used to swallow the balls a lot since apparently the threads wear out quickly in your mouth.

id advise against it. i dont think it’s the most aesthetically pleaseing either, other piercings are definitely sexier. i;ve worked in corporate settings and now in professional healthcare and have found that in both fields they are completely unforgiving when it comes to tongue rings. give it some thought! good luck if you do end up getting one!! Wow, thanks for the detailed description and all the pictures! (Although I got kinda lost reading it…I’m not so good at building things though so I have trouble picturing things in my head. I guess I’d have to see it in person).

Do you prefer the new bottom loading or the original?

Damn it, I also got a new xpole not too long ago. Wish I had known about this…I hate needing to use a ladder but didn’t want to buy a pole that is associated with a girlfriend of Hugh Hefner’s

Thanks for the tips, ladies. Definitely gonna to look into buying the release tools! I tried to take the pole down again this weekend and not surprisingly had to struggle with it. I think I got more of a workout trying to take it down

YOUR KITTEN IS SO ADORABLE!! SO TINY!! i squealed while watching. I love how you casually picked the kitten up and sort of tossed her aside. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

No cats here, but my dogs are terrified of the pole (esp in spinny mode). When they see limbs flying through the air they start freaking out and cowering https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

have you looked into getting certified by the USPF (http://www.uspoledance.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)? They have a climb and spin certification thing for instructors (http://www.climbandspin.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) in NYC. expensive, but it would be a good and solid way to get started…Wendy is a fantastic teacher too. I take class at NY Pole Dancing and the ladies there are incredibly talented!

I took Marlo’s 6wk pole course at Shockra studios in NYC. she is absolutely AMAZING, it is so hard to keep your eyes off of her when she moves. Best dancer (on and off the pole) that I have ever seen. Her classes are fun, and best of all she is seriously hilarious…she really knows how to keep the energy up.

What blows my mind even more is that she has only been doing pole for 2 years and when she started, she claims she couldn’t even do a pull up…so there is hope for me. And yeah, she was definitely ROBBED at Pole Superstar. I’m guessing the chick who won had all of the S-factor chicks texting in 50 votes each or something.
