Stevesgirl, I applaud you because had I been in your situation, I probably would've panicked and freaked out because I couldn't figure out what to do. I will DEFINITELY be sending prayers up and good vibes your way. May God bless you and your family and hopefully this too shall pass. Best wishes, dear!!!

I would just go talk to a few clubs and see who's hiring and where you'd feel the most comfortable. I used to work in a club when I got back from basic training. It was something I'd always wanted to try and I LOOOOOOVED it! Well, I loved to pole haha. Most of the big money comes from table/ lap dances and private dances, but I made decent money from the stage (I was too shy to bully men into lapdances lol). I was a little chunky myself but I toned up and I had a bangin' body. (I was pretty damn hot to toot my own horn !!)The club I worked at made us dance on 3 stages. Typically you had a set of 2-3 songs that were roughly 3+ mins. So on average, we'll say you're dancing for about 20- 30 mins straight every hour. Do that for eight hours a few times a week and it won't be long before you see and feel a difference. Shoot, if I felt comfortable enough with my body now, I'd do it again! I love to perform! Now, I will say to make sure you get some thongs that cover all your lady bits. I'll be a bit blunt to say I have quite a bit down there and a site I ordered from was the pole dancing shop. Their butterfly thongs are thicker, wider and very comfy. I wear them with regular clothes in place of underwear :). I hope I helped! Good luck!!!

@stevesgirl- try to just dance, move or what have you without really “trying.” That helps for some people who have problems trying to get their rump to shake. It took me FOREVER to be able to quite a few things and my momma gave me PLENTY to work with lol! Just try to have fun with it! You know all of us here are very supportive! Now I’m eager to see your challenge! No pressure!
Side note: don’t think I can pick just one song…. 🙂

@poledancer7776- there’s some awesome strength building and stretch videos on youtube. I can’t afford the classes on here at the moment but until I can save up for a years subscription ($100 is a lot at one time with a baby lol), its what I recommend. Try searching for yoga stretches and I believe nike had some great strength building exercises. Hope this helps!!

Wowowowowow! Well, as I have recently been sued (over a 1 inch SCRATCH ON A CHROME BUMPER!!!) I will give you my 2 cents: if the student has signed a waiver, carefully review it to ensure what you will be up against (sometimes we forget what’s in that paperwork). To me, the fact that she still attends classes at that studio does seem like a conflict of interest, but at the same time, how many times have we had bad service at a restaurant we liked or frequented? For her to sue is a bit extreme, but I think she should’ve been aware of her surroundings IMO… I wish you the best of luck and for the record (I AM NOT A LAWYER 🙂

I agree with lilblondie :). If there are pool tables or if there’s someone that is interested in speaking to you or 1 on 1 time, challenge, encourage and/or promote VIP areas and private dances. I wouldn’t recommend alcohol consumption due to personal experience, but if you absolutely must, have maybe 1 shot or 1 mixed drink and drink water for the rest of the night. A trick I did when I used to work in a club was wear low heeled (2 inch) sandals that were sexy and comfortable inbetween performances. I would put my shoes on before I went on stage and would massage my feet before and after performing. It may seem tedious, but it worked for me. I do hope this helps and best wishes!!

June 15, 2011 at 1:35 am in reply to: BF bought me a cheap pole 🙁

When I first started pole dancing, my then-BF (now hubby) bought me an Electrapole. I had no knowledge of pole quality nor was I at all informed of the pole community. I pretty much "winged it" the whole time lol. When I tried to do spins, the pieces fell apart and it almost tore a whole in the ceilng of our apartment. I soon discovered X-Pole and my hubby recommended we purchase it before I could spit it out. Long story short, I would recommend giving your BF information about the X-Pole and inform him of the dangers of using a cheap pole. It's fine for simple strip tease, or to use it as a prop (pictures, poses if that), but I do NOT recommend using it for anything else as I have cut myself using it. Good luck!!!

@chem I will! I will begin by trying to get on my treadmill for at least 15-30 mins at least once (trying for twice) per day. Seeing as how I have one month until my next fitness test, I think I’ll be ready. Thanks a lot for listening. I really appreciate it.
