But please also be aware that heels are not accepted at some competitions…
“We have to take some of the eroticism out of the moves and also take off the high heels,” International Pole Sports Federation President Tim Trautman said in a previously published report. “We’re going to frame it as these are athletes that you’re watching.” Yes, he was speaking about the Olypics, but I didn't see any heels at his competition either.
I personally always dance in heels when I perform, and I feel that adding an extra 6 inches on my feet does not make me any less athletic; but I also believe that we should be able to dance in whatever makes us feel beautiful and confident. I don't find barefoot dancers any less beautiful and I dance barefoot all the time in my studio, honestly I just dance better in heels.
I hesitate to even respond to this because I know how ugly this sort of thing gets. People have a need to stratify themselves and a desire to belong with like minded people. I just really wish that we could see the beauty in all types of pole dance…from erotic to vertical bar.
While we will never agree with everything that happens at every competition, please try not to devalue the hard work and stress and money and time and effort and emotion and BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS that the competitors put into these competitions. The only reason they are there is to validate all of their self discipline and sacrifice and to show their art to the community they love.
The last time this topic came up some incredibly nasty things were said, and I truly hope that no one will stoop to that point. We are a family…If you can't say anything nice…well you know the rest.

For USPDF you upload a video to youtube with a specific heading and email the link with your application to USPDF. Last year it was allowed to be subitted privately, but this year it had to be a "public" video on youtube or facebook.

Thank you everybody!
Amy- That definitely sounds like my issue 🙂 I get really discombobulated in this position and I think I am pulling down toward the head rather then out toward the wall. I realized while on the foam roller today that my quads and ITB are awful tight (Thank you holidays!)
Jade S – I remember that stretch from Alethea's workshop! Totally awkward but feels AWESOME thank you for the reminder it has been a long time since I did that one!

I was affiliated with Poletein for a while as a "poletein girl" and was behind the booth at convention. I can tell you from first hand experience that it really is a high quality product; it has no artificial sweetners, the flavors taste great, it it lactose free so it does not give you stomach trouble…like a lot of proteins. I used this product for months and loved its affects. It is not just a catchy name it really is a great protein. If you have any other questions Briana Michel is the founder and her email is ACauseForProtein@gmail.com.

What an awesome pole year….Some of my favorite accomplishments were…
Performing at Pole For a Purpose, Going from pole instructor > Studio Owner, Competing in USPDF….Watching the ladies I taught become amazing dancers and more confident people. Most importantly making the decision to do what feels right and make pole my career

I competed in the Amateur competition, and let me tell you it is very intimidating! The word amateur doesn't seem to really fit lol but it was amazing and the girls are so sweet and supportive and so incredibly talented! :). Unfortunately I didn't watch most of the performance because I was in the back being a nervous wreck ;), I did want to comment that Nadia was great and her song is a new favorite of mine it's called "Rev 22:20"- by Puscifer it is awesome, definitely check it out!!!

Hazeldej and Debbierockz,
I have been dancing for about 4 years now, and I cannot stress enough that pole dancing is not for the faint of heart. In those four years I have been beat up, bruised, braced and have felt that plateau creep up on me. At the end of the day, be proud of what you HAVE accomplished because not every person on the street would ever attempt what you can do. When I feel frustrated with the really hard stuff here is what I do – I crank up a playlist of my favorite songs and I dance with my eyes closed (not recommended if you plan on inverting 😉 ). Do everything that you do beautifully and think about when you couldn't do that! Dance because you love it and because it makes you feel good. It is not about how hard your tricks are, it is about making the tricks you do know look effortless.
end rant. Happy Poling, don't give up! one day you'll be handspringing like it's nobody's business! 🙂 🙂
