I was cleared to pole 6 weeks post c section. However, it took a while for my torso to “loosen” up again. I couldn’t body roll, twist well etc for a while. I was very active during my pregnancy and started to dance 4 weeks after delivery (avoiding any ab work). It took a long long time for everything to feel normal again. just be patient with yourself as you get back to it. your body has to heal from the pregnancy and the trauma of the c section. it may take months to a year to get back to your previous pole self. follow your dr.s advice about when you can start resuming normal activity. if they say no at 6 weeks, I would listen. I know somone whose sister went back before being cleared and she gave herself a hernia and had to get more surgery. best of luck and best wishes on the baby

veena, how do you get into that from the cartwheel? (I assume you mean split grip)

i had a contractor put mine in because it was 11 feet in the air. he bought bolts and put a few washers between the bolt and the mount. just bring the mount to the hardware store and tell them what material you are installing them in. I dont know what to tell you about the wire warning- sorry.

congratulations on your pregnancy. I am now 9 months pregnant and poled into my 8th month. However, I stopped inverting at 6 months, and also stopped taking the more intense classes at that time. my last 2 months of poling were very dancy classes and I modified moves (on and off the pole) as needed. week by week moves went down the drain-lol but I had a great time still getting to see all of my friends. I also was able to work on my flexibility a little!
I had Dr.'s permission to pole as usual up to 6 months (of course working around the belly once it started to grow) , but I had been poling for over 2 years at an intense level 3-4 days a week prior to getting pregnant. I performed at 4.5 months, and I would have to say my stamina and lines were not the same- but I love to perform and performed at the studio on the same poles we use for class. It was still a good experience and in a very familiar venue. I also performed at 4 and 8 weeks pregnant, not knowing I was pregnant. It was business as usual for those performances. In the end you 1. should consult your dr about if you can continue to pole while pregnant, and 2 . use your best judgment to not compromise your safety and health. IMO now is not the time to start learning new, more intense tricks or train at a new level. but if you are in good health, the pregnancy is normal etc. then you should be allowed to do what you usually do if you feel up to it. if you are pretty new to pole, then you may want to take a break. wishing you all the best!

you should check out pole waxers in marietta, they are the closest studio. also heidi coker teaches pole and she lives not far from kennesaw. there is not a kennesaw pole studio. pole waxers is the only one in cobb county and they are off canton rd. http://www.polewaxersuniversity.com/ the next 2 closest after that are vertical joes and polelateaz both off the howell mill rd exit of 1-75 www.verticaljoesfitness.com and polelateaz.com

MemberJuly 9, 2013 at 10:53 pm in reply to: Moving to Fredericksburg, VA & looking to get back into poleyou should check out Doll House fitness run by Von Brianna. She is in Manassas VA – if she is too far for regular classes, she seems to book touring pros often. I've met Von and have seen her videos. she is talented. I dont live in VA but am from there. I havent been to town since it opened. There is also Diva Fit and Pole Pressure but not sure how close they are to you. They are Metro DC. I know there is a small studio in Harrisonburg or Charlottesville or both, but I do not know the names. My parents live in Stafford so I look forward to hearing if you find anything in the area. best of luck in your move and hope you find a good studio

this is also called a flag flip by some people and its quite hard. be sure your lower arm/elbow is jammed into your side or tummy- it is essential to the lift. also start with your head below your hips if possible. its ok to stand on your tippy toes to achieve that.
