I like to buy victoria secrets pink line of boy shorts. they have different lengths and rises and are quite pole worthy.  I usually buy them a size larger than I wear for underwear so I can wear something under them. the also go on sale for 7 for 26 dollars a few times a year.  victorias secret also makes nice sports bras too. I have not tried the expensive yoga wear, but do have a nice pair of pole skivvies shorts that i like.

i would call it a regular class. Almost everyone at the studio where i dance in Atlanta is in their 30's.  We have very few girls in their early 20's, or even mid 20's.  To me hearing 30+ or mature pole etc sounds like a low level class. As an advanced student, I wouldn't even consider it.  You could offer a non invert class that is not introductory for people who can follow more complicated choreo and do combo spins etc and give it a clever name.

  • mercy,

I just got this same pole from ps.  the first time i put it together it was a bit wobby. then i realized that i can turn the pieces at the joints to tighten the whole pole once I have it in place. once i did that it stayed together very well. but it took me a day or two after setting it up to figure that out

pole dance kittens ideas are right on.  you do get to chose what moves you use, so pick ones you do well and assign them a category.   back flexibility is also an option for flexibility moves.  most moves you know probably would work for 2 categories so you can assign them the categetory that works best for this round.,… ie a handspring could be an invert or a strength move, a double gypsy could be flexilility, strength or invert.  you do not have to deadlift for it to be a strenght move, you just dont want a crazy kick to get into moves.  if you are using part of your floor work as a flexibility move be sure you note that on your compulsory sheet so the judges know to be watching for it.  best of luck in miss tx!

vertical joes has many beginner drop ins, video vixen on mondays, floor work on tuesdays, grown and sexy on thursdays, pole for newbies on fridays and saturdays.  www.verticaljoesfitness.com.

  • and I am also a fan of mighty grips ankle protectors with the grip strips as well if you are not into wearing shoes.

  • you can also try wearing shoes that cover the tops of your feet.  I have sensitive feet and that helps me.

@ scarlet thunder- I've seen that spin before and its actually different than the round about.  You are in the same grip, but that "sweeping leg" really changes things.  My friend does the spin on the video you posted and we were playing with it to build up to the somersault and came to the realization it is not the same movement minus the hand.

if you want to use that spin to build up I think it could work. For the somersault there is more of a jump and that leg will be different. if you already got the somersault from this, let me know – maybe we've been breaking it down incorrectly and I would love to hear how you made it work.

I noticed after the somersault you had such good momentum and went around the pole a few more times, that it made me wonder if you were on spin (which seems crazy to me) .  I've been working on this on static, but it really hurts my wrist so I do not play with it much.

    lynette,

Is it possible to do this in a non twisted grip? I think the twisted grip is required since you flip over, but as I am not a fan of twisted grip I thought I would ask. thanks- very nice move and video
