She is promoting those crap poles because she sells them on her website. I betcha, I betcha, I betcha! Greedy and uninformed ______! (I’ll leave that blank because you know what I want to put in there.)
Just imagine a new pole dancer looking for info and finding that article/blog! OMGosh I hope they read our comments.

When I first started the RG I actually kept my feet on the floor and "scooted" backwards. I did that until I built up the strength to hold myself up with one hand while going backwards in air. I was able to get it after 3 weeks of pole dance but I got a message on my video from someone who had been pole dancing for 3 months and couldn’t get it. So you’ll get, just keep at it! ^_^

I love these video newsletters so keep ’em coming!
And yeah, holding the cupcake the whole time was just too cute. I love getting to know our members better.

The prices on the website are for AUSTRALIAN dollars so the price of the set is always lower in US dollars. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

She teaches on both because certain moves are just impossible or really hard on static. From what I have seen in her first two DVD’s the pole is on static most of the time. She will teach a move on the floor or in static and then say something before doing the move in spin mode.
Oh and like other SV members say, even if you are more advanced you can still benefit from all of her DVDs.

I love the whole Art of Pole set. Just fantastic!

Bobbi’s classes are $230AUD for 8 one hour classes, everyone gets their own pole. Now are we talking about taking a class with Bobbi herself or they are classes at her studio? Because if that is pole classes with just her that is pretty good.

He should have left the mirror for the next day when ya’ll were sober! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif If it is one clean cut across maybe you can glue them onto a board or something… You’ll have a big mirror with a crack across it but oh well??

It takes a while but you will learn the right amount of hand-grip for you. I know I was holding on way too tight my first few days so my hands burned and burned. You really don’t have to hold on for dear life but it feels like you have to the first few times. Whether you like it or not you are going to get rough hands with pole dancing. I’m rather proud of my calluses. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
You will quickly learn about new muscles in your body and feel sore in places you never knew existed. Do NOT live by the motto "No pain, no gain" because that is old-fashioned and just plain silly. The only time I can see how the motto makes sense is when your skin pinches and burns on the pole because you can’t help that a 100%. The motto does NOT work for muscle pain or when you over-stretch yourself because you’ll just end up in physical therapy or something and that is not gain. If you are sore just take a day off because your muscles deserve it. The best thing about taking a break is that the day after you will be so strong and you’ll be surprised how much better or longer you can do a move. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Oh and in one of the Friday night chats one of our more advanced ladies said she only pole dances a few times a week because it her joints hurt. So if she takes time off so should everyone.
Having said all that… The Twisted Grip on your first day??!!?!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif I’d be careful… that is a pretty advanced move and you don’t want to hurt yourself.

You can’t change it. I had to open a brand new account and delete my old one. Studio Veena doesn’t allow screenname changes.

I hope I’m not one of these "bad beginners"…… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif
I noticed some girls climbing with the soles of their feet and wondered why they do it because it looks awful and awkward. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif It must be harder to learn climbing moves if you start out all wrong… they have to eventually shift their legs/feet anyways.
The whole pointy toe rule goes for most dance forms so there is little excuse. My toes on my right foot can’t bend because of surgery but not everyone has that excuse. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif I know that sometimes I forget to point because I’m soooo occupied with hand placement or something else but it is bad. The sooner you do something the quicker it becomes a habit.
My peeve is seeing people walk as if they were walking on the street because walking heel-to-toe does not look graceful. In many dance forms you are told to dance on the balls of your feet because it makes it easier to turn and do quick movements. And being on the balls of your feet doesn’t mean you have to be all the way on your toes or pretend to wear a pair of invisible platforms but just lift the heels of the ground.
I think a lot of the issues you see with beginners is that they pick up a pole, watch pole dancers on the net, and then try to replicate the moves without any guidance or knowledge of the basics. If they lack dance classes in their area all they need is to pick up a good DVD set or take on-line classes. I know videos don’t replace teacher time but it is better than watching a Felix vid and thinking, "Oh I can do that… I’ll try it right now." (BTW I got my Art of Pole set in and I’m so loving it! I was getting sick of Vertical Dance.)

So neat…. I wish more people were aware of this and added themselves!

MemberJuly 21, 2009 at 3:24 pm in reply to: Beauty & Body Care Tips for the Pole DancerFor the people saying they love natural/organic stuff, have you checked out Lush? They have all natural hand made soaps, shampoos, bath beads, things that make scented steam in your shower, all kinds of yummy natural stuff. I just discovered it last month and I’m so hooked. I got my fiance’s mom a bar from there and now she’s addicted too haha. Its kind of expensive though so I only use it for like… "spa days" when I really treat myself. You know, two or three times a week. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gifYeah they have them all over here. I think they are starting to go international (States?). Def. on the expensive side but I love the way their store smells. YUmmmmm!!
