I think we all have moments like that :p
Do you practice the spins often? Could just be a matter of building strength. I suggest posting a video if possible, i’m sure the girls could give you constructive criticism and tips to help. Good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Hi Aphria!
Welcome https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I’m super shy too, but you will find that everyone on here is very supportive and friendly. I haven’t been brave enough for a Friday chat yet, but i’m sure the girls will make you feel at home.
I haven’t been poling that long, but it has already restored my confidence in myself and my body. It may take time, but with a little work you will feel better about yourself https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Welcome! I’m originally from Australia (Newcastle, NSW) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I moved to the U.S just under a month ago. I know there is a least a handful of other Australians tucked away here.
There are plenty of talented dancers on this site, I have picked up a few tricks to look fluid and transitions just by watching the videos. Feel better soon! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I have the ‘meaty thighs’ too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif Any sitting position or move that requires grip with my thighs kills! I feel that the extra flab tends to pull and drag on the pole which causes the pain. I wonder if doing toning exercises would help?
There are a few moves that don’t hurt as much as they used to, I think once you become comfortable with a move you don’t grip as tightly which makes it less painful.
Hope the pain goes away for you soon https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Hi Jacq!
In my opinion it comes down to personal preference and what you want to do. I wouldn’t put too much weight on what other people think. I’ve only had my pole for a few days but I use static for the majority of my practice and learning new moves and switch it to spinning towards the end for a bit of fun https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I love seeing how many combination’s of moves I can get into the one spin https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif but yeah spinny = dizzyness lol so be careful.
I have seen some awesome vids on spinny mode, my fav is the winner of Miss Pole Dance Australia:

Thanks for the info freethesun https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
When you use rubbing alcohol, do you dilute it? Andrea also has the lil’ mynx powder finish but doesn’t have the same problem, so I think my problem is the pole cleaner or possibly the soap i’m using for my hands. I’m going to experiment with both so i’ll let you know if I find a winner https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Meanwhile i’m going to invest in tite grip or something similar.

Hi Veena!
Good to know someone in a similar position https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I’m sure moving from MN to CA may as well have been a different country for you too. It’s sad leaving old friends, but i’m looking forward to making new ones https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Yay! Got my pole fixed…I guess it just needed a little oiling. Good as new https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Good to hear https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Does anybody here own a lil’ Mynx powder coated pole? I chose the powder coated for extra grip, but I find I am still wiping the pole down every couple moves because it’s too slippery https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I didn’t have this much trouble when I was using the studio’s stainless steel pole. The house is temperature controlled, so it’s not the weather, am I just cursed with sweaty palms or should I be wiping the pole down with something other than windex?
