Hi, a strap is best if you’ll be going upside down, doing leg waves, heel bangs etc. because the strap makes sure the shoe doesn’t fall off.

But Sam I had ZERO safety issues with it and I know other women who safely have rugs under their poles so it depends on the texture/make

Hi Sam, I had a big area rug under my pole for a year. I danced on it in heels because the pile was low-cut and smooth. But I did get carpet burn over and over until I started remembering leg warmers or leggings (which make it frustrating to hop on the pole) and knee pads (which also don’t transition to pole well). And I agree with Veena that it’s easier to glide on a smooth floor. There are probably textures of carpets that would work but the pic you showed looks incompatible….

Socks will help your toes glide. I bet this move will be easier for you to learn if u practice your basic diamond roll/leg shape and see how she is really moving into a diamond shape before taking the lunge shape.

You’ll get there faster without doing it everyday!! Listen to your body, I do pole dance most days of the week but I take whatever feedback my body is giving me and don’t push myself where I’m not ready or able for that day. Take it a day at a time and know that resting is part of getting stronger. I’ve been in your shoes, keep at it!!

Sticking due to not having enough momentum during a spin vs sticking because of your body temp/skin moisture level vs sticking because you tend to squeeze your muscles a little more than necessary are all different possibilities…

Have strong boundaries with EVERYONE you meet, whether they are friendly or mean, don’t let anybody’s behavior (good or bad) get in your head. Focus on people who are respectful to you and shut down or disengage with anyone or anything that makes you feel hurt, scared, confused etc. Stay safe and sober 🙂

Try Etsy. I don’t know how fast it would arrive, but here’s a few online stores:

    https://www.likdancewear.com
    https://alienoutfitters.com/
    http://www.dollskill.com/
    https://www.leatherandlacz.com

    Hope that’s helpful!

@runemist34 yeah it is harder to do alone! it would definitely be easier to stay on track if I had a pole studio I was going to but that’s why I am trying to stay on myself to be disciplined heehee

@nyxed I guess the timeline I want to do my elbowstand and chopper is just as soon as possible haha I never looked at it as by a specific date but that might be a good way to think about it!!

@polegramma I hear you! I’m trying to find the right balance. @Veena I’m definitely using your app and have made all my progress from doing so!! I’m just at a point where I want to get more serious about meeting certain goals like elbowstand and chopper and I wondered if I was making the right time commitment and seeing how others go about planning their training out. I don’t have a physical studio I go to.

@grayeyes I don’t think it’s ever worth t to go overboard haha. I like the idea of doing something everyday. Pole is my only exercise right now though, do you think you pole better from outside activities or is it more of a way to stay active not necessarily reach specific pole goals faster?
