I bought 4 of the mats from yoga direct. They are very good as far as protecting you and keeping you safe from falls but unfortunately, the zippers quickly broke and the seams rip. They use to offer a cover for them that they marketed for putting over the mats when you are wearing heels. that cover would probably help decrease the wear an tear on the mat.

Wow! Many thanks for all the info. I will do a little research. What should I expect to pay for the whole thing?

I would love to get into aerial yoga but I am not quite sure how to do it. No classes are available around here. How/where do I begin to purchase an aerial Yoga sling? What do I look for in a sling and the hanging devices? Is a sling best with one ceiling attachment or two? Is there Aerial yoga videos/DVDs that I can purchase to help me get started? Any advice would be appreciated.

I would love some new advanced material also. Or perhaps you could add lessons/tricks on how to combine moves together and what you could do (trick-wise) before and after each of the tricks/pole moves that you have just taught.

Combos would be great! Hoop is fine but most of us here joined for pole lessons and the addition of more pole lessons would be great.

Angel traveled to St. Louis about a month ago to do a certification class and I have to say that it was awesome! I have certifications from other pole certification companies and she by far did the best as far as explaining the injury potential of pole. She broke down the rotator cuff and the muscles and associated injuries/causes better than my anatomy instructor in nursing school! Angel also taught techniques of instructing students that were very helpful. You will not meet a nicer,
more caring instructor. Another plus of Angel's course is that you earn CEUs that you can use for AFAA or ACE because AFAA, ACE and the PFA reviewed her course and found it worthy of granting CEUs/endorsing. Be wary of those courses that you cannot get AFAA, ACE or other fitness CEUs from. They either don't meet the requirements or don't care enough about the safety to submit their cert classes to these AFAA/ACE/PFA.. (A well known pole studio in KC advertised a pole certification course and when I asked if they gave ACE or AFAA CEUs for completion of the course, the studio owner asked me what ACE and AFAA were! Clearly they were more interested in my money then in teaching me how to instruct my students safely!) I highy recommend Angel and her Discoveries Dance course.

I used Itac2 level 4 and thought it was great. The girls in my class complained that the grip was too tight and it was hard for them to spin but they could always go down to the lower levels for that. It is waxy of course but we put wax on our poles (at least when it is cold) to help the grip. I did not experience any of the slickness that I am reading about. I really love it!

ACE, and AFAA, NASM, are very reputable companies that offer both personal training certifications as well as group fitness certifications. There are also a number of fitness companies that offer continued fitness education as well as other certifications. One of these companies is SCW Fitness. I was quite surprised at the number of dedicated fitness professionals that attended these "SCW Mania" continued education classes. The selection of fitness classes that you could take for continued education credits was astounding. That being said, non of it was pole related but hopefully, that could all change. Maybe Veena could come and offer a class……I have included some links for you look at.
