After I stopped looking at my scale everyday and just enjoyed the journey of pole, I started gaining muscle and losing weight as well. I teach beginner pole for the past year once per week for one hour plus I go early and do a warm up and a little after so 1-2 hours. It took time. My stomach still is not flat but has toned and trimmed a lot. It seems to be the last place my body wants to lose fat lol work in progress 🙂
In regards to diet, I don’t have very much advice :/ I used to count calories and I hated it. I really don’t like dieting in general but I do try to eat small portions multiple times per day.
Happy poling 🙂 -
Yes!!! I have a 12 yo boy and 2 yo girl, they both love it. My pole is right smack in between my kitchen and living room and stays up all the time. Honestly anyone who comes to our house (kids and adults) either don’t even notice it at all (which is weird to me) or just naturally gravitate towards it while in conversation. I watch them either lean, stretch, climb, or walk around it. Even my husbands grandma!! Unfortunately my sister in law doesn’t really like it, I am pretty sure she sees it as a stripper pole. To each their own but I have 6 nieces and nephews from my brother, 3 of them girls. She doesn’t mind the boys coming to sleep over (they are teens and not biologically hers) when I asked about my nieces she said she would only let them if they didn’t get on the pole. What she doesn’t seem to see is that they are already swinging around a pole at school, same thing. I hate the stigma. It’s not like I would give them a lesson and if I did it wouldn’t b sexual!! A fireman spin, they have probably already done it on the ‘fireman’ pole on the elementary playground. Anyhow, it’s terrible we even have to think about what other people will say/do/or/think. I think as long as its being used in an appropriate manner and safely, go for it kids 🙂

Well I’ve never been in a competition but the others three i have done. I tend to get more excited when I can help someone do a move. Not that I’m not proud or excited when I get a move or get someone hooked but I feel the best when I help someone. It could be something as simple (although to beginner this is not simple) as getting into a handstand, walking it in and getting legs placed properly for inverted crucifix!! For the past 7 weeks (once a week), I have been teaching about 6 women from my adult jazz class, they were all pole newbies when they started. Each week they are feeling themselves gaining strength and confidence, I can see it too!! I love it. It makes me feel so good to help someone with something they themselves never thought they could do. Then we pushed past that point, most are holding inverted crucifix even if for a few seconds. I am sad to stop this class with these ladies but will also be happy to start dancing jazz with them again. Most are so excited and happy with the workout and challenge, they want to keep it going at least twice a month during jazz. Ahhhh, the feeling of helping someone get a move is like watching your baby walk for the first time :))))) pole babies growing into strong, confident, fit women one class at a time.

Totally off topic sorry…corbyOconnor, I had a prof at UCD that described Chemical reactions as sexy too!!!! Lmao

Thank u veena for the clarification on this. This is the only thing I think I do with TG but I will keep in mind the risks for sure. I do want to work on SG and true grip deadlifts it seems as impossible as TG did right now though!!

My problem is fixed…I was not tightening the screws that make it static tight enough (probably because I was afraid of overtighening them) now that I put a little more muscle into it my pole hasn’t budged 🙂

Loved that!!! Inspiring and want a photo shoot now :))

I can swing my leg into tg Ayesha but I am just now also starting to strengthen for tg deadlifts. Not aerial just from the floor. It’s soooo hard, I think they call it hangman? Anyhow progress is slow but it’s working!! I’ve feel myself improving trying to really concentrate on turning my body out and hanging there. I also really want to be able to get this so I can do the running man thing or flying. Good luck to u!!! Slow and steady progress feels like you r going nowhere sometimes but I am sure u will start seeing and feeling a difference 🙂

🙁 Unfortunately we as humans have the hardest decisions for the animals we love and take care of their whole lives. That is our burden to bear…it is a very hard choice and sometimes has to be made too quickly. Quality of life and amount of living that they have had are two things to ponder. A long beautiful life full of wonderful memories or it could be a animal in their prime or youth. If your dog is still seeing good times and not suffering beyond the point where comfort and happiness are unattainable. The decision is made by the owner alone. People have different reasons for doing what they do, letting go or keep fighting.
Acupuncture can do wonders…I have been out if the animal field for a couple years now, so I don’t know the extent or details of neuropathy but I have seen many cats and dogs who could not use their hind legs be able to do so or have more comfort with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. I’m certainly not a doctor but have seen remarkable things.
Also, if u choose to put ur dog to sleep, I personally would stay. It’s hard….but the moments that u get with them telling them u love them u will never forget them…they know..they are not alone..
I have been in many rooms where animals have taken their last breaths, some with the owners present and some not, people handle death differently (some people even laugh), some cry, some no emotion, some angry, some people stay and some people just can’t….and that is OK!! They make their peace and say goodbye in their own ways, I have always told the owners that no matter what they choose (to be In Room or not) I will b there and stay with them the entire time they aren’t going to be alone. Many people really appreciate it and some are ready to go in afterwards but not for the actual passing.
I wish u and your family the best during these hard times. I hope that u all make the decision which is not only best for you but most of all best for your ever loving companion. -
Screw those people who did that to you in the past!! Confidence and courage no matter what you look like will take you far. I’m sure you can do this you are a poler, we are strong inside and outside. Breathe, relax, practice, and find confidence within yourself. When the music starts just go for it. We are constantly evolving as individuals, you are probably not quite the same person you were in the past. When I dance the crowd becomes a blur of people and I almost don’t see anybody but I can if I try too. But anyhow what I was trying to get at is, dance from your heart. Pole is not only a challenge in itself it’s a challenge of oneself. You can only do what you have the ability to do, which is far more then any heckler could ever get close to. even a simple routine or freestyle is quite hard for a pole virgin. I hope u post video of it so veeners can see. Good luck to you.

I did!! I was uploading from my iPhone. I have a pic stitch app u can make collages on so I took my original pic and put it into a single image collage in my pic stitch app saved to photo album then came onto veena and loaded my new saved photo. It’s worked everytime. Good luck!!

I would start on static to get used to moves without getting dizzy once u get a feel for moves and get comfortable holding u could switch to spin. I don’t have veenas lessons (I wish!) but I’ve heard alot of good stuff about the 30 day take off and her lessons in general.
Don’t get overwhelmed and discouraged!! Stick with it, this pole journey can b smooth or rough depending on the day. U will get it!!
If u think about how much there is to learn it can b mind boggling but if u do one or a few things at a time at your own pace u will progress. Work on flexibility and building strength everywhere but mainly in your arms and back (pull ups, climbing a rope or pole).
Hope u enjoy your new pole!! And stay positive, veenas site is so great, many many positive, motivating, supportive people here. Good luck on your journey 🙂 I look forward to seeing/hearing your progress. -
Oh I forgot to say I love my booty shake also!!
