I have the beginner/intermediate series with 3 downloads and I really like them. They definately work! 🙂
However I'm not sure whether the beginner/intermediate DVD's are the right choice when you are already able to do the splits (and I think you are, right?) They really just work up to the splits.
It depends on what you're looking for I guess. Of course there are also some other nice stretches and the back bend part.
Maybe you would benefit more from the advanced oversplit videos (I don't have these though, so I don't know what's in them)

Roamy, do you know the advanced Valentino Brothers DVDs?
http://valentinobrothers.com/products.html
I only use their beginner DVDs which work up to the splits. The pics on the advanced DVDs look pretty crazy to me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Well in the beginning I used to do the gemini with one hand on the pole. It hurt my thigh so much that I thought I'd never be able to let go of that hand.
But I found that as soon as the hand didn't hold me anymore and my body could wrap around the pole and I had that armpit grip and "waist grip" too, my thighs actually hurt WAY LESS than with the hand on. Because when you're holding with your hand you don't have the correct body positioning and all the pressure is on the thighs, whereas in a normal gemini it gets distributed evenly https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
So if you feel relatively secure in the position but it just hurts a lot, just try to let go with the hand https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

The headache might be from a concussion. It might be better to wait with exercising until it's gone. And with the stiff neck I wouldn't do anything that's strenuous for the upper back and neck (e.g. inverts) as it might make it worse. Heat and massages should help though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Have you tried explaining your husband and mother how it happened? My family is also kinda scared of my hobby and I'm explaining them the "system" behind it and how different tricks work. Just so that they know that falls are not random but always happen for a reason and that you know about them and try to avoid it (in the future https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

Good that you didn't get injured badly https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
About the going back to the pole thing … that depends. Did your doctor say it's okay to exercise again? Do you have any injuries that need to heal first?
If everything's fine I'd start slowly with beginner stuff and then check whether you're afraid of inversions or not. If you're scared to fall again it's better to wait a bit and build up your confidence first. And if you start to invert again maybe avoid the trick you fell out of for a while https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
It sounds like you don't have a pole at home, so the "try how it feels" – part might be difficult. Can you just get on a pole at your studio without regular lessons?

I'm gonna have to agree with Alesha84 here. Whether you look "bulky" or "cut" depends on your body fat level … and the main factor for this is nutrition. If your fat covers the muscles they'll look bigger and not cut.
Short interval training several times a week might also help reducing the body fat. But in my experience it's all about what and how much I eat https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Haha, the same thing happened to me some weeks ago. I thought I was the only one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I got my "accident" on tape … it does look funny, although I didn't do a crab walk^^

Well, what keeps me motivated to train on a regular basis is this quote: "If you really want to do it you'll find a way. If not you'll fnd an excuse."
So what I do is ask myself whether I really want to achieve something, f.e. the splits. And since the answer is yes I know I need to work on it. And I might as well do it today, because I know it will take a lot of time to achieve the goal https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
(And no, I'm not by nature an active person, I know everything you wrote about procrastination too well https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif )

Thanks for the explanation! This makes sense. I just tried to squeeze my water bottle without my fingers and I did have to use my palm und thumb ..
-
Gripping with the palm? Is the diameter of the pole important for doing that?
I could imagine gripping with the palm on a thin pole, but on a 50mm?

Hi!
I don't know of a town called Luxembourg in Germany, so I'm assuming that you mean the state Luxembourg?
I don't know about an international directory for schools … I often saw some, but I don't know how complete they are.
If she's looking for a school near that small town where she's moving I'd suggest to just google the town and then "pole dance" or "pole fitness" or something like that.
I found one in the city of Luxembourg which looks okay (http://www.flirtyfitnessclub.com/). And if your friend isn't a beginner she can probably judge the quality of teaching in a new studio very quickly.

MemberJune 1, 2011 at 1:19 pm in reply to: Strength training for pole that has worked wonders for me!So after reading this thread I decided to give the routine a try. And guess what I just did today? My very first shoulder mount!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Though I must add that I've been doing knee tucks in the shoulder mount grip on a regular basis for 2.5 months now … so I think it's not completely due to the routine https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Yeah you need to be strong enough to invert without kicking to do that.
Also you need to bring your hips in front of the pole once you're in an aerial pole hold. So the pole is kinda on your low back/bum. From there you can lift your legs up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

If I press pause while the video is loading it starts playing again ..
If I press the pause button exactly in a moment the video is playing it stays on pause and I can let it load.
Maybe you can try that? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
-
Yes, I have that problem as well and it's because of my slow internet connection. I always pause the video and let it load for a while and then I can watch it.
With a faster connection I don't have that problem.
It is a bit frustrating, that's true … https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
