I tried it the other night, just idly seeing if it would work for me…Hells nope! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Once I get my back to the pole, I get stuck! I know what it’s supposed to look like, I just can’t seem to get my arms to go the right way! I’ll just have to study those videos lots, and see if I can’t dissect it further. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif
Also, a tutorial would be very helpful! -
(thinking of The Producers) Beautiful girls, wearing nothing but pearls?
I dunno Amcut, you might need to make one! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif -
I think Empy hit the nail on the head right there: "It’s obvious that people will use any excuse they can to make trouble." https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
So many times I see it, and it bothers the heck out of me. We can’t have a cartoon show depicting all boys, we can’t have "Boy Scouts" anymore (Dunno if you guys have that in the US?). However, we can have all-girls fitness, including yoga and stuff, because there’s NO way any "real man" would want to take that! (Sorry, a little bitter…my husband can’t take yoga around here because it’s all "female only.") And we can have "Girl Scouts" that boys don’t join.
Anyways, getting slightly off topic, sorry. I think these people are just trying to complain so they can feel big and powerful, so they can "protect their children" or some such.
Drives me crazy, because what are we protecting them from? Sex? Love? Well, we’re obviously fine with showing them violence, death and hatred. So, the idea that you’re emphasizing the "G" would mean (gasp!) you’re referencing something purely sexual and for pleasure! We can’t have that! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Okay, okay, sorry. Getting up on my soapbox. It just (as I said) drives me up the wall.
So, are you guys going to have to change the name just because someone complained? Can you defend yourselves from stuff like this? -
Honestly, and I’m sorry this may sound callous, but this doesn’t surprise me at all. Considering they’ve officially decided that Santa Clause can no longer laugh by saying "Ho ho ho!" anymore because it’s derogatory toward women or some crap, "The Girl Spot" could be seen as a sexual reference…
Although, if they’re just arguing font choice, then that’s bullshit. Forgive my swearing, but honestly! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Anyways, I’m very sorry you’re going through this. People have become SO paranoid and touchy about so many subjects lately. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif -
tilt your hips so that your spine is curved and your hips are open to the ceiling (like you’re rocking back), imagine your belly button getting sucked in towards your spine.
Makes sense, thank you!
I agree… my hammies dont seem to love me as much as i love them!!! xx
I know what you mean! I keep trying and trying to stretch them, get into the splits…anything! But they don’t like me that much. It’s probably those hours and hours of sitting we/at least I do every day! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

Hey there…I actually have the exact same issues! Core strength is…well below average, I would say…but after much practice and hardship, it’s actually getting better! I wanted to ask, however…tilting your hips which way? As in, forward so your spine becomes straight? I imagine this would be the most logical direction, but I wanted to ask anyways! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Also, Polergirl, I can actually almost get my knees by my ears, but not if my legs are straight! Straight legs, I can barely make a right angle at the hips. My hamstrings are SUPER tight! Any suggestions on how to make them…er, happier? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif -
Hey! I actually am just trying to start one! I haven’t got everything down that I’d like, such as what moves are or look like and such, but usually I know what I mean when I’m looking at it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I’m finding it hard, though. If you are trying to come up with combos…well, I seem to be having a really hard time with it! Is there any way that you can go out, bring your little book, and think of things? Does anyone do that? Or do you require your pole in order to think of things, either ones that work or ones that don’t?
Aside from that…what kinds of things do you put in your journal? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif -
Lol, this is nothing! Try going to a studio where they think they’ve "made up" a move such as the reverse grab! And call everything something different! That was my first pole experience. I still have a hard time calling it a Half spin, and not a Swing dip, or a back hook spin not a Halfpint, or a front hook spin a ballerina spin/showgirl spin. Seriously, changing lingo is really hard!
Is wikipole really helpful to everyone else? Every time I go there, they don’t have any explanations of the moves or pictures, so I’m never sure what move they’re talking about! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif -
Haha, I’m gonna have to learn this move really well, too! It’s my namesake https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Looks beautiful! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -
I feel your pain. I’ve got no one around here that I can really share with. Everyone’s either old, or people I’ve already dealt with and then couldn’t stick around with. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif I hope you find someone https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Totally adding every person that put their name up here. When I start putting up videos (which should be soon!), and I can see everyone else’s videos, I think there will be much inspiration flying around! It’ll be great! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Generally during the winter my skin gets pretty dry, too. It’s been getting ever worse as I get older! I would recommend more water (unless you’re drinking quite a bit already), as that is my big issue. Also, I agree…either immediately after poling, or a few hours before seems to work. I tend to put lotion on my face, and inevitably it gets all over my hands, and I find a few hours later, I’m good to dance. It all depends, I think, on how your body takes the lotion in, how fast, ect.
However, I’d also say take your health first. If your skin is that dry, perhaps see a doctor (just in case) and try to take it easy on the things that make your skin unhappy! It’s the biggest organ we have, and if it hurts…it sucks! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif -

I’m pretty sure this person is serious, but has NO idea what we/she do, why we do it, and how we’re trying to come across. I mean, Leigh Ann is pretty sexy and some of her moves have that really sexy feel, but…it’s still fitness. It’s also clear to me that this person has no sense of perspective! Head down, butt up? That’s only sexy to a select few people. Splits moves are actually very sexy to some people. Clear heels? Who cares? See them all the time on video, and they don’t really make it look like you’re floating…it looks like you’re wearing clear heels! And lastly…floor work is nice, but it’s not what we’re doing. We’re doing POLE dancing, so floor work is kind of…like an added bonus. Most of our workout is on the pole.
Thanks, though! Made my night https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif -
Runemist, my job is about 90% writing. I am an utter word nerd! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_study.gif
*Excited* What is your job?? I’m going to university for a BA in creative writing…I write stories. Long ones. I also have thought about going into editing, but I don’t know yet! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gifGlitter: https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif You can do it! We can work on our abs together! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

A "spin" by my understanding is something you can do on a static pole that causes you to spin around. Spinning poles also allow for "spins," but they change the rules a bit. I only have a static pole, so that’s how I learned it. So, if it’s something you can spin around on, and especially if you spin around a lot on, then you can call it a "spin!" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
