Awesome ladies, thank you! Perhaps my first paycheque will go to shoes…and then my husband can shake his head in bewildered confusion https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
Saldivar: They’re big when you ask for your size, and more than half the time you get "Oh, those shoes don’t come in that size!" or "We don’t carry shoes in that size." It’s quite annoying…also annoying is when you’re tall and can’t wear heels really well, because they make you giant! Hehe. Tattoos… I’ve thought about, but I don’t know if I’m ready yet. I heard that if you get them on your feet they can wear off, because you wear stuff on your feet so much!
Poleophile: I never heard of that place, but I’ll have to check them out! Victoria is kind of a day trip for me, but I might be going down there on sunday to visit a friend, so we’ll have to see about it! Also, Nanaimo bars aren’t quite that amazing, but every once in a while, I get a craving for them. I just wish there was more chocolate!

I added myself, too! I would love to be able to dance with more fun ladies! I’m so lonely up here in west canada!

I’ve been sick for almost a week…but of course, I started wanting my pole, and just took a bunch of drugs to kill my symptoms and went for it! Your dancing is beautiful…consider yourself watched https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I’ve got a lil’ Minx pole, chrome and probably 50mm, and I’ve never had a problem with it. I tend to stick really well, so something that isn’t powder coated is a little better for me. I’ve never really had the issue of taking it down (if I have guests, they can deal with the pole in the livingroom!). Sometimes I wish I’d done more research and gotten an X-pole, because I hear you can change them from static to spinny pretty easily, and I thought that would be a lot of fun! One day, perhaps I’ll just get me a spinny one, and put up whichever I feel like at the time.
Anyways, good on you to be doing research!

I’ve had a couple of types of lessons, including in a studio, and I find Veena’s lessons to be very well done, informative, and helpful. There are moves on here that I’ve never learned, and some that I have. Obviously one person cannot have a catalogue of every move there ever was, but it’s a great start, and an AWESOME resource for those who are getting into inversions! I recommend them, even if you only get them for one month to see what they are, and memorize the moves you can do…and then get some more later for the inversions! That’s my plan!

I totally agree, Sabrina. I’ve been lamenting the fact that I cannot invert for a long time, but honestly, since I don’t stick with my dancing sometimes (I’m bad for getting caught up and forgetting to take care of me) I haven’t had the chance to build my strength! Also, while I totally understand wanting to get into it, I’ve found a whole new world of challenge in just trying to improve technique in those spins and beginner moves! Like, on one move, I found I don’t push my chest out enough, and I’m actually losing momentum in the spin because of it!
Don’t give up, just keep trying. It’s a great challenge…especially for those of us who give up easily, or burn out quickly. It’s the challenge to keep trying, and keep going at it, because it’s fun and beautiful and makes you feel great!

Actually, I don’t know if this is much different from the belt (which I love, by the way! I’m gonna try that!) but I once figured out a way of stretching using the pole! Basically, you lay down next to it, swing your foot up, and scoot yourself down until you feel the resistance…since we’re pole dancers, I figure it works, right?
Thanks for your great comments! I love hearing other people’s ideas on how to get things like this to work!

Ah! I tried Pandora for a while, but it got wise to what I was doing…apparently Canadian laws state I’m not allowed to listen to something like Pandora, so I was using a mask to pretend to the website that I was in the states…
    Oh well!
Right now, I’ve got some major hankering for some pop music, like Sexy back (I’ve got a rock version of it, actually) or something else with lyrics!

    It’s so true!
Despite a husband telling me he think’s I’m beautiful, and lots of other people telling me I’m sexy (or acting like it) I always feel…bleh. I love this video, because it’s so true! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

hehe, I’ll have to agree with everyone…weight doesn’t really matter when it comes down to inversions. Did you know that muscle weighs more than fat? I’m 5’7" and I weigh about 160 or so (I don’t own a scale, so it’s been a while since I weighed myself), and many people look me up and down and say "Where do you keep the weight?" Most of them don’t believe me.
I’m not that strong, most of my muscle is weak and squishy, not hard and amazing like some of my friends (one of whom is several inches shorter than I, and much stronger!). I’m working on it, though! I know our society places a lot on ‘weight’ equating to beauty, but I don’t believe it! I think all women are beautiful, and the most important thing is that you believe you are beautiful, the way you are. Improvements to strength are great, but don’t judge yourself because you think you’re "fat" or whatever.

I’ll get down off that soapbox now, sorry! Also, don’t think that I’m some kind of expert on self-esteem, I should really learn to practice what I preach, but I’m getting there. So will you!

Hello! I’m also from BC (on the island), and it’s wonderful to know there are others! Also, kinda jealous…I love horses, but don’t have the time or money to invest in lessons. There’s very little for me to take pole lessons, which is why the internet is great!

Hehe, if I could send some your way, I would!
Thanks for making me feel welcome, ladies. I have hope that I can get to my pole more often as christmas comes, but I know that, at least after January (I know that seems like a long time) I will. I’m just having some self-conscious roommate-not-my-husband issues…y’know. But we shall be hopefully moving out!
Until then, the plan is to just get back to what I know, and attempt the routine again. I’ve got quite a bit of time, so it shouldn’t be too hard!
Wow, I sound pretty sad, eh? Well, with some food and some effort, I think I’ll be better! I’m gonna try dancing tomorrow! I’ll let you know how it goes.

She is a beautiful dancer! I always feel self-conscious next to people like that…I’ve got some big hips and boobs, so I feel kind of flabby. But, I hope dancing will hope to improve!
Thank you for the welcomes https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
